Gimp Help

Hey all i was wondering if anybody can help me by posting a step by step Tutorial on how to use Gimp tools for changing textures ie how to draw a straight line , how to colour an area without smudging etc , ive learnt what i can from Orion and Erasmus i can now change my files to pack i can get my basic mods to work , i can add Russian line inf to Genoa for the red pants etc.
Ive looked on google for tutorials but not seem to cover the basic tools section pls if somone can help i would be happy ..

Obviously, skip the NifSkope bit. You can find a bunch of other good tutoials for retexturing with GIMP by search for Oblivion too.
