Although this proposal was designed to be low-tech, is there anything we could do with the forum software to help automate any parts of this proposal? It's been a while since I've used an admincp, but there should be some cool gadgets out there for this kind of stuff. As the bureaucracy in particular is a key sticking point, it would be interesting to discuss what options there are built into vBulletin that could help mitigate it.

I propose that we hold a competition like in the days of yore and select new badges to celebrate the release of Troy. This would require a lot of effort from Content Staff so I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and do all the work if necessary. I've already done a preview of an initial set of badges to give everyone an idea of what we could have. The community will vote on the badges and select which set they prefer.

Here is an example (Courtesy of Flinn) of how a possible competition could be set up.

I'd say that 1 month for the 1st submission is due, since it will give people time to notice the competition and possibly do minor modifications based on incoming suggestions, then we can have 2 weeks for the first round of vote, then 2 weeks more for the second submission (everything is already decided) and 2 weeks more for the final vote. Consider another 2 weeks of possible delays, things coming in weekend, etc. If we want to do the things properly, it will need 3 months.. going with one single turn will probably reduce the total time to 2 months.

Well, I would say this: we don't have long. The mood of the Negro community now is one of urgency, one of saying that we aren't going to wait. That we've got to have our freedom. We've waited too long. So that I would say that every summer we're going to have this kind of vigorous protest. My hope is that it will be non-violent. I would hope that we can avoid riots because riots are self-defeating and socially destructive. I would hope that we can avoid riots, but that we would be as militant and as determined next summer and through the winter as we have been this summer. And I think the answer about how long it will take will depend on the federal government, on the city halls of our various cities, and on White America to a large extent. This is where we are at this point, and I think White America will determine how long it will be and which way we go in the future.
