Fatal Error On Ending Game

i know this isnt so serious, but i cant save game settings (like bilinear, unit size = huge and removin the restrict camera etc)

simply because, i quit the game and when i get to desktop it says *medieval 2 has encountered a fatal error and will now exit*

what? it also happens on my third age total war mod.

the only thing tht comes to mind is that i had to download the new kingdom and medieval 2 exes from SecuRom (cause of that damn emulation issue).

any ideas? some help would be most welcome. having to re-do all the settings is starting to do my head in.

ps - its mtw2 gold im using. and it only happens on my mods. the original works fine ¬¬
