Default When is the campaign going to be moddable

I'm itching for a global map on this game, but it's taking so freaking long for CA to release campaign tools. Are we even certain there releasing campaign tools?

Uuuh... no? I'm pretty sure they won't release any at least in the next few months

if they do it's goign to be DLC and your goign to proably have to pay like 13$ for it and it's proably goign to be buggy and limited or they might flush ETW down the toliet and stop patching it in favor of an expansion.

I'm sure they know we aren't happy. If I were them, I'd start offering DLC maps for $. My guess is we'll see that soon. Of course, that means they will never release map tools.

Yes, they will and i don't care anymore, i'm totally thorugh with praying for any tool or any help, i am glad enough if they don't close the game to modding as much as they did

Reading the comments of all those DLC-Lovers, i'm sure not if there will be anything to mod in the next TW-Game...
For now the only pain in the ass seem to be the modders, asking al the time for tools...

i hope they revert back to the tw style of files we know instead of this werid Paradox like file system.

tho you got to complian partly for all those programmers who made tools for us and proable made them rethink about releasing tools.

I think the only way i'd ever make a map would be if they released a sort of Age of empires map editor thing- really user friendly and slightly fun just to make- none of this confusing technical stuff. I admire the determination of The Lordz, i think i would have lost interest soon as i started to make the damn things

Yeah, it's weird how they said that Empire would be the most moddable of all the TW games... yet then they go and put it in this strange new format. They had to have known that without some tools or atleast some documentation that we would have a hell of a time modding the game. It sorta contradicts itself, doesn't it? Honestly, as great work as some of the mods we have are, I've not played in months. The biggest issue I have is that the campaign map sucks. I don't like how some of the big nations are *1* region... France, Spain, England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Portugal... they all need to be split into atleast one region (afew of them, like France, need to be split into several regions). It's funny too, how one of the selling points (about the moddability) was that there was going to be no hard coded region limit like in the past games... but that's one of the big things we can't figure out how to do! Ok, enough ranting.

Has anyone tried to convert tools created for other games that use a similar file system as ETW?
For instance, ETW uses a db and .pack file system. Other games like SIMS 3 uses a similar system but their file extensions are .package instead of .pack and their modders have already created a slew of tools to mod models, retexture game objects, and mod the actual town model. Is there any way to adopt those tools for ETW? Come on smart people, there has to be someone able to do this!

Merged threads about the same topic. This has been discussed many times already (see here and here for example). Please use the search function in the future.

I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Modders here have been begging CA for a map editor since Rome and CA has never once even cared. I'd say you have about a 0.01% chance you'll ever see one.

I just simply cannot understand why CA decided it was a good idea to make editing the strat map as easy as creating antimatter. I mean seriously. What the hell.

I think there will be no tools untill the expansion is released. I hope I'm wrong and it will be before that time though...

There's not going to be an expansion per the PR man at CA. I imagine all the extras will come in the form of DLC.

I surely hope not. I have no interest in the DLC trend every company's adopting these days. I rather enjoy getting everything in a single, nice disc so I can always get back at it down the road without worry of DLC disappearing, being discontinued, etc. DLC is a dangerous road to travel for this very reason. The 'only' downloadable I would ever be interested in is a strat map editor. But there's as much of a chance of that being real as my rear end turning into a baboon.
