Icon5 Question about city under siege

    Hi Everybody

When a city is under siege and player decides to let it go until besiegers
attack, when or why does the city give up without a fight?

All I got was a loud groan and the city gives up, general dead and army gone
like they never existed. It doesn't happen often that I let them get away with it, but it hurts every time......

While I have the podium, I am playing Carthage (sacrilege, I know) for variation, and the first time I spilled Roman blood, it made my stomach turn...
I felt like I had committed treason... Anyone else experience this....

I can't remember if I have said this before, but GREAT MOD!!!!!!!!! Thanks
to all for their hard work, late nights, sacrifices, all to give us late nights, endless pleasure and a game worthy of the title!
    Hail RS

Just hold your cursor on the besieged city. There should jump up a little txt message above the city, telling how many rounds the city can take the siege.(dont click. just hold)

Depends on city size and walls btw.

I know about the turns that cities can hold out, thanks, but doesn't the enemy
    attack after the last turn?
The whole idea is that I do not want to sally but want them to come in.

No, you will instantly loose that city without a fight, in contrary as to besieging a city yourself and awaiting the last turn.

Also, I cant think of anything that could lure them into attacking you in that particular situation.

    Kinda unfair, isn't it.

If you wait out till their food supplies are gone they will sally out, but if your army is way bigger than theirs you may be lucky and they will just surrender.

(I think) if you sally forth when under siege, if the small red 'fight until the death' symbol appears next to your general's picture, they shouldn't surrender. If there is no symbol, I would suggest a sally forth when the 'turns till surrender' count reaches 1 turn.

Well, if you are the one who is being besieged and there is no reinforcement army anywhere near then is best to sally fort as soon as possible because some of your men die when being besieged. I once besieged a large city with full stack in it. When it was only 1 turn till surrender, nearly half of enemy men were already dead. Though sometimes this seem to affect to besieger too.

its because the city's food has run out and they all died of hunger and desises
    The die is cast- Caesar

Ok, thanks. For the sake of discussion, is there a way to change it, or is it one of the hard coded issues?
I realise I loose men waiting them out, but I still had a chance on the walls. Sally was 50/50. Anyhow, revenge army is in training......as the man said:.............I shall have my vengeance.........
