Deserts?

Hi, i'm new and i just downloaded the SPQR mod and I LOVE it, but i had a question about the deserts.

Maybe mine is faulty but there are lush spots where there should be deserts, like the Karakum desert adjacent to the Caspian sea is lush, and the Persian desert is also lush.

Is it supposed to be like that? It's not a huge deal but it takes a bit out of the fun of desert warfare

It's already been established that the map isn't very accurate... However, I recall that I've heard somewhere that large areas that are barren nowadays used to be lush in ancient times. I'm no expert, so this is no qualified answer, just an input :p
