Default Assassins get kill by diplomats' bodyguards???

I often train my new assassins by sending them to kill enemies' diplomats. But sometimes they get kill by diplomats' bodyguards (The dialog box said that my assassin was slain by bodyguards - The same message as when he fails to kill generals or captains) However, I don't think that diplomats have bodyguards cuz it sounds fishy. So, is it a bug or it's true that diplomats have bodyguards?

Diplomats today have bodyguards, it stands to reason IMO that they would have had them back then. Not sure about captains though, that should be some kind of message to say that he was caught by the guards trying to get into the camp or something.

Diplomats were always accompanied by the biggest most intimadating soilders of an empire to project an idea, this is what you will have to face if you go against us.

Um, if you fail any assassination (it can be spies, diplomats, captains, generals, whatever), you get the same message box: slain by bodyguards. Its the same in vanilla, its the same in every mod...

Actually, I haven't met any situation (in both XGM and vanilla) that assassins are executed by spies' or assassins' bodyguards If an assassin fails to kill spies or other assassins, there's just a dialog box states that he had missed targets. It's fine that diplomats can have bodyguards since they're representatives of empires. But with spies or assassins, it's really strange if they also have bodyguards

Here's how it works: You have a success chance, a miss chance, and a chance your assassin dies if he fails. Its not different for each target... So even if your assassinating a diplomat, there's a chance he dies, a chance he succeeds, and a chance he misses...

I interpreted it as the enemy spy or assassin settin his own trap to eliminate your assassin. In any case, I've always seen the agent not as an individual spy, but more like the spymaster/ringmaster of a spy network. Thus it makes more sense to stick a spy in a city-- you're not just putting one guy to do counter-spying, you're putting into place an entire counter-spy network.

Hmm. I seem to have digressed a little, haha.
