Saved games

Usually, I would just let something like this pass, but it's worthy of me just asking :

Recently, while Medieval 2 Total War, I went to save my game, accidently however, I over-writed one of my other saved games with my current campaign. With autosave obviously not being any salvation here, I was wondering if there was a way to retrieve old saved games, or perhaps go back to a later autosave?

Unfortunately Windows doesn't dump the old ones into the recycle bin.

There are programs out there that do but cost money. My opinion is oops, and go back to the save or autosave before it and get mad at myself for not being more careful.

Ah well, thanks for the quick reply, guess I need to be abit more careful next time >_<
