I'm a big fan of the cartoon Series. I have read a few Xmen issues here and there. But now I wanna start from the beginning. Where do I begin? Which issue do I go for first? Am I to get Uncanny Xmen instead of Ultimate Xmen?

And I drank it strait down.
The best kick off for catching up is picking up the House of M graphic novel. This is the foundation for everything going on right now. Then you can read the Messiah Complex novels which will get you to the team moving to San Fran. After this you'll either need to start looking into back issues or trade paper backs.
This is for Uncanny, I'm not familiar with Ultimates.

The beginning, where else?![]()
I haven't read a huge amount of X-men comics (I only got into comics late last year) but I can recommend House of M, Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire, Supernova's, Blinded by the Light (though this may be out of print), and Messiah Complex.
Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men run is quite good also, of course.
Reading these will largely inform you of what has been going on in the past few years, though it doesn't even begin to cover the 30+ years preceding it.
If you're wanting to be more recent, start with Messiah Complex. It's definitely the most recent jump-on point.

for more from the wonderful world of Humber Reloaded, just google it!Then I weighed him I said, “Holy ****!” because he weighs 900,000,000,000,000,000 tons. That amazing weight made me say the “S” word.

I cant see myself getting back into comics at a large stride, I just wouldnt know whats going on. It's like watching the 25th sequel of a movie when you've only seen the first two.
