    Default Auto resolve balance

I could do with a volunteer or two running some campaigns as Parthia / Sarmatia (and against them also) and looking specifically at the autoresolve balance. The idea would be to save the campaign just before the battle, try autoresolving, take a screenshot of the outcome, then reload the game and play the battle. We'll need a load of battles and as i said with the player taking both sides in the campaign - and playing on the same difficulty level (Medium).

I think things are about right now, but I'd just like someone to check.

Great. Thanks. Ideally it should be battles against infantry rather than another horse archer faction, so probably Parthia is the faction to go for.

and then try being Seleucids against the Parthians for a bit.

This part of the campaign is still something that needs a good bit of balancing and tweaking to get it right, so thanks for the input.

That's reassuring so far. Obviously multiple results are what's needed to get an idea of things.

BTW you need to turn fog of war off in your campaign map.

I fixed the 'Historical Battle of Carrhae' last night, and fought the battle between Cassus' Legion and the Parthian cataphracts and horse archers. Boy, did I ever get owned! My cavalry got destroyed, and those cataphracts are just plain scary! I don't think even a genius could win that battle.

The key to that battle is to retreat to the hill that is behind your army.

Some of these Historical Battles I won't be able to fix I'm afraid.....I don't think these were updated since the original RTW, and the one's with settlements in them either don't work or the settlement is missing.
Oh well...I tried. Most of them are going to work, and Tone, it is just astounding how wonderful everything looks and feels in these....the narrator, the terrain, the units.....these are just great.

I even tried to get the 'Trasimene' battle to work IN the Campaign...but no go. These custom battle tiles just don't seem to be working...I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Dvk, couldn't you just move them to another place on the map. I know that some Historical battles on RS 1 where under water because of the new map we used.

Great. If you can make the units in your army as many cavalry as possible, maybe a mix of heavy cav and horse archers, and choose an army to attack that's mainly infantry it'll help. As the player you're always likely to do better that the AI at using horse archers, so better performance as the player is always going to happen. The main thing is that we should see roughly similar results whichever way the battle is fought, whether for or against the horse archer faction.

    What was the opposing army?

Also it'd be great if you could have a go testing with a purely cavalry army as Parthians as that's what we're looking at the autoresolve results for.
