Default The Day after Third Age

    Simple Question(s):

What happend after Frodo destroyed the Ring and Sauron was betrayed?

Did the remaining races life in peace till the end of day or did they fight each other?

Were the Allies between the good forces kept or did they became old and rusty?

What happend with Harad and Rhun?

What happend to the places outside of middle earth? Aren't their other contienents aswell?

What happend to Frodo / Bilbo / Gandalf after they sailed with the elves?

    1. Barad-Dur was destroyed, and Saurons spirit left middle earth.

    2. Depends on the race. Gondor did eventually conquer Harad, not sure about Rhun.

    3. In peace. The Elves and Dwarves helped repair Minas Tirith, the dwarves made the gate and the Elves planted gardens.

    4. Harad was taken back into the Gondorian empire, don't know about Rhun

    5. Yes there are, Valinor is where the Elves go to when they leave Middle Earth.

    6. I do not think it is mentioned.

Aragorn become a king of reunited kingdom, the war against Rhun and Harad continued.
Dvarves died out, elves left the Middle-earth.
    Alliances were kept.
    Were conquered.
Yes there are continents, but nothing is known about them.
    They lived long and happy.

    1) Apparently the Dwarven race began to dwindle by the end of the Fourth age, for their women made up less than a third of their population. Often, the women would want a husband that they couldn't have and so would not marry. Similarly, many Dwarven men were too engrossed in their crafts and did not have the time to take a wife and have children. Their ultimate fate is unclear.

    2) His son Eldarion.

    EDIT: Use google and wiki!

Actually there are 3-4-5 or something of books which some russian dude wrote .....
    Кольцо Тьмы (Ring of Darkness)
This fantasy novel takes place in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, 300 years after the War of the Ring. The books tell the story of hobbit Folko Brandybuck, the heir of Meriadoc, and his two dwarven friends, who are trying to protect Middle-earth from a new danger: powerful Olmer, the leader of the Eastern nations, who is gathering the remainder of the nine Nazgûl's Rings of Power. The original duology was later followed with the third book, Адамант Хенны (The Adamant of Henna).
    Эльфийский Клинок (Elven Blade, 1993)
    Черное Копье (Black Lance, 1993)
Адамант Хенны (The Adamant of Henna, 1995)

    Hi,

I would advise a little humility here. This approach dismisses:

    - firstly, any and all work by one Chr. Tolkien. What could he possibly know abt. his Pa`s inner thoughts, after all...

    - secondly, all loose ends left(probably intentionally) for later processing by JRR himself,

    - thirdly, the unpleasant fact that another author could write a work of high literary quality placed in Tolkien`s world. Especially Perumov`s "Elven Blade", first part in his trilogy is very well written, IMHO.

    Regards, Oldtimer

Argh, and how about "War and Peace - the new stories" by some Rodger Smith? Or maybe "The return of Anna Karenina" by Husein Mughal? Or "White Fang 2" by some Petr Ivanov?

Middle-earth is not cheap high fantasy pulp fiction but classics.

The work done by Christopher Tolkein should be completely accepted as he wrote nothing new, all he did was clarify as much as he could using his father's notes and unfinished work, and we should all be very thankful that he did. I don't think trusting such work to anyone else would work very well because Chr. Tolkein I'm sure is trying to stay in the same direction his father was going.

Anything not written by either of the Tolkeins should not be taken as correct.

Only Human and Hobbits stayed in middle Earth... sounds not like a "real" end to me... has there never been a kind of invasion or raid against middle earth from foreign continents?

No, only the final rise of Melkor and apocalyptical battle.

Aragorn became King of Gondor, King of Arnor and High King of Reunited Kingdom, and the Elves left Middle Earth.

They lived in peace. After the elves left and the Dwarves became fewer, there were anyways almost only men left.

They were strong. The only major countries were Rohan and Reunited Kingdom, and the kings there were good friends.

Harad and Rhûn subdued to Gondor after Saurons fall.

You have The Undying Lands, were the elves left for, but they never attacked (obviously), and Beleirand sunk after War of Wrath. Valinor were the island of the Arda, and they never did anything hostile against Middle Earth. So no, other continents never threatened Middle Earth.

    Only Tolkien knows.

No, not until Dagor Dagorath, as Æsir mentions.

I would recomend Tolkiengateway if you want to learn more, it`s a very good site.
