I have to say that I am very angry about what happened with Cherryfunk. Granted, he got himself into a pissing match with somebody and couldn't let go of it. But what REALLY annoys me is that the guy that banned him is the same one who opened the dang thread in the first place. Are these people practicing at being stupid, or were they just born that way? Political discussions, as well as religious ones, are probably the most volatile subjects you can ever touch on anywhere, with anyone. They can hurt and wreck families. They can alienate friends. They are just plain trouble unless you are VERY close with the people you discuss such things with, and have an understanding that in the end...all is well...and you respect each other's views.

But to start up threads in a 'world' forum where there are tons of people you don't know well (and you have no idea hwere they are from), to discuss or muse on issues of modern politics or the behavior of nations is just asking for trouble. Why are they so surprised that it turns into a fist fight between a couple guys....you might just as well have put up a sign and said: "Come in here and get into trouble"....because it just invites conflict in a place that has NO PLACE FOR IT!!!

Yeah, I know somebody is going to say we should all act like adults....but if we did, then we wouldn't NEED moderators would we? And everything would be just fine because everybody would be all nice and such...in a dream world!! I'm not condoning what Cherry did....I stay away from that kind of useless crap because I don't know anything about any of it, and politics is so boring I could just gag. But to see the guy who started the discussion, ban someone who 'got into it' with someone in the same thread where he INVITED discussion about it, is irresponsible and a joke!

This is a game site....at least it was the last time I checked. So what does 'Iran is exploding' have to do with anything in any thread or part of this forum? Are the moderators trying to be a news service? Are they lacking better things to talk about? I don't know, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit to take Roma Surrectum off this site and let these people have their political fun without us.

Yeah I agree with you some of the moderators are quite annoying to say the least there are lots of instances when they abused their powers this not being the first. I feel for cherry, I had a look at those threads in question and yeah maybe he went a little over the edge but who doesn't once in a while? Curiously the one who started the whole thing (Banzai) was not punished for his offensive remarks.

On the other hand, I'm not very sure if we're doing the right thing by leaving this site before the launch, it might hurt us because we will not get the same coverage anywhere else. Maybe we should wait to release it and if we still feel that we need to go we can do it anytime after.

I agree with both of you.
I didn't get to read enough of the threads before the hammer fell and I was "Not allowed ". What bugs me the most is banzai was picking everyone's pocket before and he's still around.
Perhaps some of the more respected Citizens and Civitates should propose a ban or removal of any political type forums. Although I know Garb enjoys said discussion when properly and respectfully debated, I feel as you do that it's just asking for trouble.

As you know in the last month i asked Aradan for my suspension from the site because these guys and threads make me really sick. Here hang around many strange folks (trolls and egomaniacs are the slightest problem imo) and sorry to say i think the site has really troubles with enforce (?) his own rules.
Maybe you know it i hate really this "MAKING RULES FOR BREAKING RULES" thing and the many moderators (mostly kids) are not able to judge "the cases" really.
I think the best would be to split complete TWC in the MODDER part and the unimportant rest (which

only will more and more if you check the props in the cvria forum).
For me i will ignore (try it) the most parts of TWC in the future because it makes me only angry or sad.

I will only say three things on the matter. First the ban that was given to cherry was not for one infraction but for an accumulation of points, and the infraction, issued by Farnan and appealed by cherry, was not for content in the Iran thread or at least not solely for it, there is a policy that no moderator can moderate in a thread in which they have participated. Second, the infraction in the tribunal is not cherry's only active infraction, the 4 points from that infraction by itself would not be enough to suspend him. Third, no one knows what punishment if any Banzai received, so claiming he received none is pure speculation.

I generally tend to avoid the political area of the forum. Its full of whiney nationalists or 14 year olds. Many of the threads in there often turn into mud throwing contests and many (including myself) have been punished. Essentially its really not ever worth involving your self in any political discussion on the internet.
