It`s impossible that they reached Helm's Deep, unless they traveled long before the Isengard army started moving, and then heard were the battle were.
This is what happends when you change the story so much, you get holes.
Elves weren't at the battle of helms deep now i run away before the proper lore knowledgists get here.
Well as you said it was not lore so they realy dont have to explain it. I would guess Elrond saw it before it happend because he can see the future and sent word to the silvan elves to help Rohan.

Time to read the books!
It's a PJ-creation..
Nothing could be more dangerous to the existence of this Republic than to introduce religion into politics
But it isn`t, thats the point. The men and elves were not allied.
That Jackson re-write was one of a handful that really bothered me. Part of what is so compelling about Rohan and Gondor fighting off Mordor and Isengard is that they are all essentially on their own. They dwarves are staying out of things (besieged), and the elves are either leaving or busy defending themselves and Lothlorien against Mordor (Dol Guldur) at Mirkwood. Everyone being isolated and alone in defense is much more interesting and scary. Having elves show up randomly in south Rohan was a bit too much, IMHO.
I think I read in some LoTR movie guide that they were able to travel faster due to not carrying shields.
elven magic? Galadriel saw from the mirror?

well, havent seen the movie in a while so..., but Elrond could have foreseen the future also?

True to lore who cares, it was an awesome battle in the movie.
But how could Elrond see it coming and get a messenger to Lorien so fast... he doesnt have a palentir, he would have send a messenger to travel down beside isengard but that way is 10 times as long and dangerues., he wouldent go through moria, and he wouldet get over the High pass because it was blocked?...
he would have needed to see it in the future about a few days after the fellowship left Rivendall
now that doesnt make sence..
So Elrond > Messenger > Lorien > Elven army going to Rohan it would take so long time the elves should practicly be waiting there to make a diffrence
If people isnt over the minimum standard of living... lower the standard..
if there is too much poverty in a sociaty, lower the poverty line... my qoutes... comment them if you will...
Apart from foreseeing and messaging I've always wondered how the army itself reached Helm's Deep?
They have to go either through Fangorn, which I doubt cause it would be too close to Isengard and what if Ents disagree?there were not many contacts between Elves and Ents in TA..(in fact there were not at all as far as I remeber)
or they have to go by Anduin or near Anduin which is impossible cause of Mordor watchers on eastern bank of the river-they would be quickly discovered(also it's a long way through Rohan plains to the Deep itself)
may be Eagles helped and brought them by air?
nonsense
At best we can only speculate in this matter so there is no real point to discuss this IMO. I can say the elves fetched a pair of broomsticks and flew to Helmīs Deep and, even tough itīs unlikely that would ever happen it is as accurate as it would be to say the elves march faster than uruks and didnīt stop for any breaks. To break it down shortly: The elves were never supposed to be there and we will never find a definate answer to how they reached Helms deep first

PJ didn`t thought about how the Elves got there, he simply wanted to show some Elven power. (Though, the Uruks Butcher them badly. ^^) So there`s no point in discussing how they got there.
So we got some logic rape, and many storyline rapes. (There weren`t any elves there, uruks butcher them etc.)
