I was poor for a few years in my life. There was a war and me and my family were refugees who depended on relatives and food for refugees. We managed to crawl and claw our way back to normal. So no, poor people should not be neutered.

anyway, I have to say that preventing someone from having a child would only prevent them from needing to feed another mouth. They still would engage in unprotected sex, and they would still use whatever money they did have, which might be more without the child, to buy booze.

But neither of said things are only native to the poor, so the amount of money someone is worth should not be taken into account when they want to mate.

I honestly think there'd be MORE social problems if this was put into place. There'd be people who hate hte poor even MORE, because we would stop seeing them as human, more like slaves that do all the dirtiest of jobs, not reproducing to inflate their numbers, but just by the merits of capitalist society and the spread of resources, people fall into this mire of poor-ness where they have no opportunity to climb their way out. I prefer not to doom someone for life, or to doom them for eternity, for they would have no children- whole families would die out.

On a side not the proposal to sterilize poor people is a political indeed, as politics is about the decisions of the community. The other two adjectives I would use to describe Shyam's proposal is:

• imbecile or morally insane - the government that agrees to rooting out those people from existence who had the darker side of life, is simply admitting it is unable to cope with the problem it created in the first place (f.e. with the benefits of the welfare state).
• totalitarian - as it regards society as a science lab, that can be experimented upon. Well, we've heard of a totalitarian ideology that urged the deracination of rich ("bourgeious") people - it's called communism, never heard of something that proposes the deracination of poor people though, I guess it could be called Fascist Communism, Shyamism or simply Trolling.

If overpopulation in the west was due to poor people, then it would work.
If diseases were a result of poor living conditions, then it could work.
If poverty was created solely by being born into a poor family, then it would work.
