Problem with unit selection in battles

For some reason the flags are no longer shown above my units. Also, when I select my units the green highlight under the selected unit no longer shows, making it very hard to tell what I'm doing in a battle. Does anyone know how to fix this? This happens in all mods and in vanilla.
