    Default Kingdoms.exe/medieval2.exe crash

i re-installed medieval II gold edition + patch 1.5, after a format.. i launch the game and medieval2.exe (if i try to play m2 vanilla) or kindogms.exe (if i try to play kingdoms) crashes everytime just after the double click of the .exe. Even mymod.bat does the same

AppName: kingdoms.exe AppVer: 1.5.0.0 ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: b26806ab

AppName: medieval2.exe AppVer: 1.1.0.0 ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: b26806ab

i have karspersky internet security 7.0 full as antivirus...
no other games installed except m2 gold edition
    Win Xp SP3
    Athlon 2800+
    Abit AN7
2GB ram Kingmax ddr dual channel
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800 pro 128 (+ last drivers)

help! before the format, everything worked ok..

If it worked on this machine before, no reason it won't now short of something gone wrong with the install for medieval2.exe or mymod.bat. Kingdoms.exe is not standalone as it has to have to be pointed to a campaign or a Kingdoms mod to work.

those crashes could be caused by the protection system of antivirus? i mean the real time protection

Doesn't look like a crash. Are you starting the game by clicking on the desktop icons? It sounded as if you were clicking directly on the exe files in the Medieval2 directory.

As irishron said: that will not work with the kingdoms.exe but should work with the medieval2.exe

Do you see anything wrong with this?

Medieval2.exe version should be 1.2. I don't think modver and offset are supposed to be the same for both.

I believe that would be a godd reason to reinstall.

How well did you play it before? Have you tried on minimum settings?
The specs for your motherboard aren't much above minimum. That AGP slot even with the best card made for it is a bottleneck.

ya i played many times before. One thing i noticed, with omega drivers my vga never crashes in game.. i start to think:

    - my .net frameworks 2.0 are bugged

    or

    - my vga cant stand CCC

    or

    - i havent installed some fix for winxp, or bug fixes for the sp3...

anyway my karpersky put in quarentine, the file kingdoms.exe

"prolly infected: new variant of virus_Type win32"

Kingdoms takes .Net framework 3.0 or higher.

You can add kingdoms.exe to Kapersky's ignore list and unquarantine it. It's a false positive.

I don't use CCC. I use ATI Tray Tools. You can download it from www.guru3d.com.
