    Default DLV 6.2 - a question

Just wondering if DLV 6.2 will seek to address the vista "unspecified error" CTD's that have been the bane of many players recently? DLV is a great mod but the incessant CTDs after every couple of turns make it tough going. I don't know enough about computers to fix it (I've tried the various fixes in vista issue thread) so hopefully repman et al will be able to sort it out once and for all.

Does anyone know the cause of the problem? I've been experiencing it recently, very annoying.

Do you mean the Ivanhoex-thread? Link?

    2 ).
Do the CTD appear from turn 1, or does it come after 1200--->
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

I don't find it to be repeatable, but it's irritating as it can happen just clicking on a character's traits, or just after capturing a city. I have no idea whats causes it.

I too would like to know.

I CTD almost every turn. It is not repeatable and its while in campaign map mode. Sometimes its clicking a city, other times switching from construction que to recruitment que and still other times its simply clicking on a character/agent.

I've read the bug thread and I'm assuming its a vista issue as well. I've turned off auto save and have also tried the other "solutions" offered in the bug report thread to no avail.

Its quite annoying and as the game progresses and there is more city micro management involved I am crashing every single turn. I end up spending 15-20% of my actual play time ending task and reloading where I left off and re-doing up to the point of crashing.

    Yes.

There are 2 random CTD that can happend-

1.) The Vista issue (read more in the thread. Ivanhoex solved it)

2.) Then it's the Commen Random campaign map CTD:
    Disable Auto save
    .
    Don't use quick save.

I only got the commen random campaign map CTD( XP-user), And so far, in 1216, it is still running perfect.

Try to start a new campaign (yes sorry abou that, but there are alot of script that might have gone wrong). If we continue to find out the problem, then you will be rememberd as one of the Crusaders of Vista bug testing... The Pope(Repman) calls his soliders to play Deus Lo Vult...

I see, and the vista issue is the fixes on the read-only problem? Also, one more question, Ivanhoex mentioned the ".bin" files, where are these?

I'm still on XP on my Dell monster gaming laptop. Occassionally get a cTD when in Campaign for no repeating reason that a reboot and reload doesn't get past. Not using quick save is something I wasn't aware of. Will stop doing that (I take it regular saving 'by name' is okay. But no Ctr 'S'. I'll root about for the options where the auto-save can be clicked off - haven't spotted it yet. Can;t wait for 6.2 so I can install a fresh game.
