http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dystopian_films is a good place to start
Mad Max Series (Mad Max, The Road Warrior, Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome,) and Doomsday all work from that list.
Soldier is listed, I guess it kind is close, but not really what you would be looking for.
Soylent Green is a good movie, but again, not really an apocalypse setting. Same with Blade Runner, Brazil, Gattaca, etc...
I guess Children of Men is somewhat of an apocalypse movie, given the plot. But I didn't find it to be that good.
A lot of those movies portray more of a degradation of humanity then anything else.
Dark Angel Season 1 is kind of a social/technological apocalypse.
And between Escape from New York and Escape from LA, you will find Snake Plissken working hard to achieve the apocalypse.![]()
The Road is going to be coming out soon, and thats set in a post-nuclear world, so could easily fit your description.

Yeah thats a pretty bleak one and I always forget it is part of the genre. I bet you just like Brad pitt tho
My faves are Planet of the Apes (the second ends in apocalypse so it doubly counts) -the originals not theremake, it should be noted and Day of the Triffids. Anything with man-eating plants is a winner in my book. For disaster movies I have a curious affection for Deep Impact, perhaps because it was a good remedy for crap like Armageddon. The day after tommorow is less unbearable than most, too.

That was an interesting movie. I also have the short it was based off of. La Jette. Pretty cool stuff.
I should inform you, since everyone is suffering from brain damage atm.
Children of Men is not a good movie. It is very boring. Pointless and lacks anything that might make it an interesting movie.
And as much as it hurts me to mention this...he End of Evangelion and Neon Genesis Evangelion were pretty cool. If you have seen the show, like Max said, watch the movie.
Other then that, anime sucks.
Now I feel somewhat better about myself.

That depends on what one finds to be boring.
That's a matter of personal taste. Anime is simply an art style. It is just as varied and good as any other form of media. It is no better, no worse.Other then that, anime sucks.
Always remember Sturgeon's Law: "90% of everything is crap."
Apart from an intriguing premise, interesting characters, some intense action scenes that weren't all explosions and CGI for their own sake, great acting, wry dialogue, quiet satire on today's society (pandemics, euthanasia, refugee crises, terrorism, government propaganda posing as "infomercials"), an ironic approach to its subject matter, some comedy (especially from Michael Caine) and some of the best cinematography seen in recent years, yes "it lacks anything that might make it an interesting movie". And if you are a fourteen year old boy who thinks Transformers was a cinematic masterpiece, you'll probably find it "boring" too.
Most other people recognise it for what it is - a subtle masterpiece.

The End of Evangelion is a pretty good apocalyptic movie. Animated, and you'd have to watch the show to understand all the things in it. But, if you've seen Neon Genesis Evangelion, EoE makes everything make sense; actually resolves the show's plot and everything.
But even if you haven't seen NGE, I still recommend seeing it.

Yup, its about a man and his son travelling across America in a time where the whole structure of society has been destroyed - at least the book was.seems exactly the kind of movie i wanted
wich like a lonely person in a destroyed world trying to survive
