No marriage proposals for male family members

I'm playing as Ireland. The princesses get marriage proposals every few turns but, none of the males do. The faction heir is in his 30's so, if he doesn't get a married soon, the dynasty will die out. What might be causing this, and what are some tips to counter it?

You can have your diplomats speak to foreign princesses in order to marry your faction leader and heir. For all other family members it is down to chance. IMHO, that chance is too low at present. Otherwise, this mod is very enjoyable.

I have had the exact same problem playing England http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=255059. Basically you HAVE to marry or kill off that princess she will bottle neck your entire family tree. None of your other bachelors will get marriage proposals until one of four things happen:

1) You marry that princess off.

2) You kill off that princess. Put her in a boat and let her sail pirate infested waters. Their satellite tracking/reconnaissance will detect her immediately and they will then use their satellite/cellular phones to coordinate an overwhelming attack on her and take care of her for you.

3) She is no longer of birthing age and will "retire" at age 45. This information is in the desc_campaign_db file <daughters_retirement_age uint="45" />. Be very careful messing with this file. I once changed the number to 2 to get rid of princesses entirely from the game but doing that killed off Hedjaz upon a new game restart and seriously hinders many other factions unless you seriously modify the campaign strat file to compensate. I myself decided the effort was not worth it.

4) Your province to general/governor/kid/princess is 3:1+. For every general/governor/kid/princess you have you control 3+ provinces. This number, 3:1, is what I've arrived at through observation as I've had this same issue many times before due to my house rules.

I've researched this issue quite a bit and the princess bottle necking your entire family tree is hard coded you cannot change this. Only the above solutions will work.

The trick is get all the girls married off and then take another province.... Then like two or three kids will be born in a 'spurt'. Just hope they aren't girls. 50/50 proposition!
