Wouldn't it be cool if a mod was made that allowed people to play as the various people of oceania (Aborigines, Polynesians, Maori etc.) I think that would be an awsome mod.

Well? What does every one think. Would it be cool? Would anyone play it if it was made?
I'd play it. It would be an ambitious project though. Brand new units, brand new map. It would be a brilliant mod.
I'd give it a try. It sounds unique as I don't know of very many mods that are concerned with places other than Europe.
I would make it but I have no skill in unit making...None what so ever.![]()
I like that idea. There'd be lots of tiny islands instead of huge landmasses, and I've always loved Polynesian language and culture.
Make America great again!
I think it would be an easy map, though. Wouldn't it? With mostly water and only a little bit of land.
Actually, this would be a hard map to make, there is a certain ratio of land to water (that changes based on total size) that if the amount of water exceeds the land, the map will not load. There are ways around this, using a smaller map and adding decorative landmasses, but it will still be difficult. Plus, as far as I know, the Polynesians weren't known for empire making. And the fact that naval battles are auto-resolved, the AI is squat when it comes to naval invasions, and resources would be hard to come by. This is a better idea to develop on Empire, in my opinion.
I do not mean to discourage you, only present you with realities. I wish you the best of luck.
Well, Would this be to big a ratio?

Much, unless your map was perhaps 50x100 and you added a decorative landmass or two.
Unless you can get an experienced mapper to help you, I think you will need to take a much smaller scope.
You should be able to get from the left side of the map to 180 degrees, if you are careful about it, and add decorative landmasses in the corners.
But whatever you do, don't expect a map as large as Roma Surrectum or perhaps most mods.
As I think about it, you can pull this off, but it will be difficult.

Well, the larger a map is in total dimensions, the less water to land you can have.
But, I figure that with some creative mapping, you could include the areas on that map from the left edge to the 180th degree, cutting some from the bottom and more from the top.
Oh, You mean to like curve the map in a funky way sort of? Like this only making it straight?

I don't know If I can do that though. I'll have to try I guess. Or get an experianced mapper. IDK. I look into it.
P.S. Do you know a base rtw? Yah know, one that doesn't work except to look at the map.
I believe GED made a map of Australia for a tutorial... perhaps he would allow you to build on it?
