    Default Red Cliffs movie

Anyway one looking forward to the movie battle of Red Cliffs in 208AD in ancient china it looks very cool and i am sure those guys who have played the dynasty warriors video games series will remember is as the battle of Chi Bi. An Allied coalion between Wu and Shu to stop the attack by Meng de or Cao Cao in hope of defeating both Sun Quan and Lu Bei so he could unify, which became of the greatest military defeats in history that happen to Cao Cao.

Can't wait to see always wanted to see a film that included this great battle.

    Or read the Books.

Which is a hell of a lot better on the printed page than will be on the big screen, particularly with John Woo directing it.

Is the international version comprised of two parts aswell? Or do they show it as a single, shorter version?

    • This movie had been divided in two parts for the theatrical release in the Asian market. The American release will be the condensed version of these two parts. The reason given was that the Asian viewers are more familiar with the characters and their exploits while the western viewers might be confused with the numerous characters and their similar names (therefore keeping it simple for the US market).

Personally I thought it was one of the worst movie I've ever seen.
It's quite simple: Either you like Chinese cinematic style, or you don't! For me it was just too special and I just didn't get the occational "jokes", and the movie was tediously long. I especially hated all those lame musical duels they had all the time that were like 15mins long, each! YAWN! I actually felt a sleep a couple of times during the movie due to this, and the somewhat uninspiring story and characters. What made it even worse was the fact that there was a hole bunch of Chinese students sitting just behind me and my mates, and they laughed like throughout the entire movie... I'd rather had spend those bucks on a game of pool and some beers really.

That said the visuals were okay, and for that I rate it as such:

    / (1/5)

The film looks amazing. I also used to be a huge Dynasty Warriors fan until about the 5th installment when I began to realise nothing was changing about teh game...same old, same old.

The film was a huge dissapointment. I lost patience half way through and walked out, mainly due to fact i had to read subtitles, some of which were moving to fast to read. My eyes felt strained, my ears were ringing with the anoying noise of twanging from chinese guitars, and the annoying stabs of poetry was doing me nut in! Basically it'ss not a film for the western audience, i'm sure it's much appriciated in the east but it was just not for me.
    *****ing A! Run fer it!!!
