    Default 6.1 Crashes on loading screen

    I'm sure this is common... but I just installed SS last night and now I can't open SS. It'll begin to load correctly, but close to the desktop (The loading screen even says "stainless steel"). I can run Vanilla mode and I'm on Vista. I also downloaded both parts of 6.0 and 6.1 and installed all three. Any ideas?

    Try turning off UAC in Vista. Also check the Vista FAQ sticky thread at the top of the main SS forum for help with Vista.

    I just tried that suggestion Caeser... it did not work. On the plus side, I don't have to deal with UAC anymore. Any other reasons for the crash? I guess i could just delete everything and try again...

    Try reinstalling all 3 parts of SS again. Sometimes the installer can miss things.
