Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

All the Teuton ones and the Crusader ones are perfect fits... The sign of the cross is great for Papal States

I like America for Aztecs but doesn't fit for the other factions ( Wrong time period)

I wish the Britannia ones worked better...They are so close...'The King Henry part throws me' again slightly wrong time period.... I didn't vote for them but I suppose they would still be 'fun' if they were there...Just not completely historically accurate... Didn't this campaign take place in 1300's for Kingdoms?

Very fun thread by the way!!!

I would rather have unhistorical videos, then Byzantine intros.

I really wanted Irland and norway to have their respective intro's(instead of the Byzantine intro.

Hedjaz and Armenia = fits with the Crusader intro, b/c they have the ME-feel to it you know. They are right insede the whole mess..

France, Spanin, Portugal = to draw the player to have a look at Americas too.(but a little sctechy on that one, to be honest).

Georgia = their natural growth movement is south(because more settlements, and less monguls).

I will test the The Mongol Invade & The sign of the Cross, so I will let you know....

Mongol invassion & Sign of the cross worked like a charm.

Georgia & Kiev could offcourse get the Mongol invasion, because they are facing the threath at their doorstepp.

To bad about Flanders and 3 Italien states ;-/

Yea... Give them the Mongol invasion intro, sweet for them... especially if Tokus can cook up a pop up for them that says " Rumors of fierce warriors from the steppe moving west has reached your kingdom.... Your lands could be their next targets... and the force of your arms is Christianities first line of defense!:

    Videos
Manual and automatic( download). The videos are already in your computer, so you can quickly copy + paste them to the new faction-folder. This is explained in detail in the spoiler. Or you can download the big file(500mb).

    Directions(path)
How ever, the text file is a need to download. Find out if you want the light or the full package, and overwrite imperial(main) campaign and/or historical campaign. Detailed guide inside, with image.

Flanders have the Sign of the Cross, because they are a catholic faction, they were major players in the Crusades (Deus lo Vult) and it's much more relevant then the byzantine/danish video

Cool, to bring the ball all the way home - you should create a fort on the south end of Isle of Man, the Peel Castle(spoilers). It was buildt by the Vikings and under viking control at the time, and is possible the location of the Arthurian Avalon.

I actually tried to put some troops on it early on when I didn't know what I was doing. I will. I did give them like six Dragon Boats though so an early war with the Norwegians is gonna be hell on trade and any English army trying to get to Ireland... I'm hoping that they will invade Ireland! The English with Dublin and a huge berzerker army rampaging through the countryside... The Irish using hit and run tactics on fast ponies! I made their light cav fantastic but deleted all their heavily armored units (completely unrealistic) but remember Pagan Irish can call on supernatural forces to help them out! I used Pagan Temples to bring the "Elves" across space and time...Awesome units but I made the price tag like 30,000 florins to build the third tier temple... And you have to take Dublin before your first king dies ( It's the capitol and the only metropolis on the island). Civil war breaks if you don't and I started the kings age at 57. Talk about being on the clock!

I created a faction folder and put all the stuff in the "FV." whatever file (forgot it's exact name.) Do you have to use the factions name at any point in the process? I just can't get it to work. I guess you don't understand what I'm saying and I don't understand what you are saying.

Your not suppose to put both the videos and descr_faction_movies.xml in the faction folder. Read this

    Videos
1.) Create a folder named "Faction"

    ...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\DLV_ext\data\fmv\faction

2.) Then download the video-package, and just drop them in. Now, the video are installed. Alone, the videos do nothing nor harm you.

    Directions (aka. descr_faction_movies.xml)
1.) Then it's the directions. This makes DLV know what video to use with what faction. The direction file, is a text ducument. You can either choose the light or the full package, check the spoilers for which to use.
2.) Then open the other spoiler and see where to drop descr_faction_movies.xml, Historical and/or Imperial campaign. Overwrite it, and it's complete.

    Either here:
    ...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\DLV_ext\data\world\maps\campaign\custom\Historical_Campaign

    and/or here:
    ...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\DLV_ext\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Just drop it in, and overwrite. Now, you are ready to play, and it is fully save compitable.

That was only part of the problem... I had to do a total reinstall of total war

And the funny thing was it started with a teeny weenie change to my mod's strat file

I did forget to copy my latest build before messing with the files DOH!!!!

So no matter what I did I could not get DLV to work because my file path was all the way to my mod

Good news is that I do have an earlier build that should work and I've been saving all along so I have all the important files from my newest build. I might have to do a couple of hours of debugging but I should be back on track today. And the first thing I'm going to do is change the intro movie!

And I learned a valuable lesson.... Don't mess with a strat file or your latest build without making a back up
