    Default No Sound?

    Well that's odd, there should be sound, I completely uninstalled my mod and reinstalled 3.0 and 4.1 today. And the sound worked for me apart from a few wrong accents. So the fact that you have no sound at all is something to do with your gold edition I think. Btw did you update Kingdoms to 1.5? also did you download and install the correct patches for M2TW? If you did not install the correct gold patches for your region then you might have such problems in mods.

    If your answer to these questions is no, then go to the mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod\data\sounds folder. And delete the events DAT and events IDX files.

    Yes it does mate, you need the correct patches otherwise mods will not function properly. Also KGCM 3.0 will not install properly without a legit copy of the Kingdoms expansion installed.

    Here is a LINK you can get the updates from for M2TW gold versions GOOD LUCK.

    I am installing tht patch now and i do have a legit copy of kingdoms installed, it is weird because you can here the thunder and the preist talking at the beginning but not anything else once the campaign map shows up.

    I should also make clear that it is also possible that KGCM 3.0 became corrupted when you downloaded it from filefront. This has happened before to other users and caused the mod to not function properly for them. There is a simple thing you can do to check this if updating your Kingdoms to the latest patch has not solved your sounds problem.

    Delete the KGCM 3.0 download and download it again with anti virus protection software disabled. I know that sounds risky but anti virus programs can sometimes corrupt downloads on filefront. I am positive if you try this and updating your gold version of M2TW that one of these will fix your problem. Because I know the sounds in my mod work for everyone else.

    When I installed 4.1 for some reason my preferences were changed in the audio section to have mute sound always on. At first it was only a little annoying and I had to change the options each time before playing. I then went to my m2tw main folder and found the preference file called medieval2.preference and changed:

    [audio]
    enable = 0
    master_vol = 100
    music_vol = 60
    provider = Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio
    sfx_vol = 100
    speech_enable = 1
    speech_vol = 100
    sub_faction_accents = 1
    to
    [audio]
    enable = 1
    master_vol = 100
    music_vol = 60
    provider = Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio
    sfx_vol = 100
    speech_enable = 1
    speech_vol = 100
    sub_faction_accents = 1
    I'm not sure if this is the problem you are having, but if it is similar to what happened with me (I am also running Vista), this is how I fixed it. Now I always have sound and I don't have to turn it back on each time I start up the game.

    [game]
    allusers=1

    it shouldn't. I opened mine with notepad (basically the same program) and it lists all the preferences. Here is my preference file (remember it is in the main m2tw folder, not the data or KGCM folder). You will need winzip, winrar, or a similar program to open this.

    your looking at KGCM cfg file you need to look at MED2tw cfg file as this one will affect any mod or vanillia game you play the section your looking for is the very first section of medieval2 cfg and it should read

    [audio]
    enable = 1
    master_vol = 100
    music_vol = 60
    provider = Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio
    sfx_vol = 100
    speech_enable = 1
    speech_vol = 100
    sub_faction_accents = 1

    you wont find a section like this in the KCGM cfg as its not needed the main cfg covers the options they only put things that differ from the originals in a mods cfg

    Sorry but you will have to reinstall M2TW as well. Then make sure you delete the entire Medieval II Total War folder and try again. By installing the files to the wrong place you have messed up the main folder.

    If you have installed the patch correctly and all the files are in the right place, then all you need to do is go into the mods\KGCM_New_World\data\sounds folder and delete the event.DAT and events.idx.DAT.

    Run the game and it will rebuild the sound and you should hear the sound effects and music in game.

    If that don't work then the sound files are obviously not in the right place, a reinstall is then needed as I mentioned earlier.
