    Default My Julii mini-mod for Rome Total War 1.5

    ALAST0R'S JULII MOD 4.0 FINAL




    This mod is not intended to be historical accurate , just more challenging compared to the vanilla version .

    This Mod was started after I was playing SPQR Mod and because I wanted a more challenging vanilla game-play .
    There's only one Roman playable faction , Julii that were renamed to Roman Empire .
    Added units for all factions ( in capital cities they also have elite units +upgrades ) , so you have to fight a little bit more for capturing slave settlements , gaul ,etc ) .
    Changed the amount of Denarii for all factions ( all have 20.000.000 , don't ask why ) .
    All factions are playable except:

    Brutii
    Scipii
    Slave
    Senate

    Added leader pics/maps for all playable factions .
    Changed Spain's name into Iberia .
    Changed maps for Carthage , Roman Empire , Iberia, Gaul, Seleucid etc .
    Added some rebel towns to factions like Germania , Gaul , Seleucid, etc .










    The jullii ( Roman Empire in-game ) have now all the regions of the scipii and brutii , plus all the leaders/family members of these factions.



    Added night-battles .
    Added more diplomats for all factions.
    Added one assassin for each faction , except slaves .
    Added watchtowers for all factions , except slaves .
    Added naval units for The Senate , Carthage , Egypt , Greeks .
    The start date is 215 BC , end date 170 AD - you should have enough time to capture/destroy all factions on the map .



    Drastic changes made to mercenaries - see attached screens for more details .Greatly modified available mercenary units ( I don't think that hoplites were hired by roman armies ).
    You can now recruit in any region a general unit that has rally capabilities for your troops -if you don't have an available family member .



    All units ( except diplomat, assassins and spy) take 0 turns to recruit .
    All buildings take 1 turn to build .
    Changed Julii capital into Capua ( Campania ) .
    Changed moral , attack, defense for some troops .
    Changed formations for peasants, screeching women , now all use same formations as town-watch ( 1,1,2,2,5,square ) instead of horde .
    All minor villages were converted to towns , and all towns now have at least wooden walls ( no more towns with wooden palisades ).
    All capital cities now have stone walls / wooden walls instead of the simple wooden palisade , except rebels .
    All capitals converted into cities , with large amount of buildings added.
    All troops in the capital cities are stronger then those in the field ,also all factions have some access to some elite troops, due to the upgrade of the city.




    Removed some science-fiction fighting units , you won't be able to recruit : Druids , Wardogs, Pigs, Gladiators , Arcanii - the only faction that can recruit this units are slaves .
    Created new generals + family members , no more towns without administrators ( except some of the rebels ) .




    Some fine tuning on flag colors for all factions ( only visible on the campaign map ) .
    Gave back Athens ( former Rebel city ) to Greeks - they were to week on the Greek peninsula so Macedon could fast destroy them .
    Also , removed spartan hoplites from all cities of Greece except Sparta .
    Improved the attack/defense ratings on all troops present at the start of the campaign - what will the AI do with his denarii it's not my problem, at least you will have some "real" man to fight against .
    Edited some in descr_battle_map_movement_modifiers , so it can become more realistic ( Changed the battle movement for long grass from 1.0 like it's also for short grass to 0.8 . It's natural to move slower in long grass ).
    Changed/added resources to all factions ( Ex: British now have tin as a resource , also gold, timber ,etc ) .
    And many more changes that I can't remember ....



    Big thanks goes to Supermoler from twcenter for helping out with those annoying name problems .

    Hope you all enjoy this as much as I enjoy sharing it with you .

    This Mod was made with the Julii in mind , but you can also play with any other factions , they are fairly improved compared to the Vanilla version .

    For those that skip the read-me contained with the installer : this mod was tested only on Vanilla version of RTW 1.5 and is not compatible with other mods , you need a clean installation / copy of the game .

    Changed the win conditions for the Julii's , you now have to take 155 regions.
    As far as I remember there are only 103 regions in vanilla version and your map looks exactly as vanilla does!

    Ok, I had some time and edited some stuff on my mini-mod , so now I can say it's a wanna-be final version.
    Changes made or new things :
    Updated version 1.01
    Edited and changed the win conditions , you must take and hold 78 regions ( I've wrongly pointed 155 regions ,lol ).
    Added night battles . Added capable traits regarding night battles to all generals ( including rebels ) .
    Changed campaign map movement points ( they were too low on vanilla version ).
    Added final edited map for the Julii - the previous one was just ugly .
    Edited the "stat_mental" for all peasants from "0" to "4" ( 4, low, untrained ).
    Re-edited the descr_mercs - some fine tuning .
    + some other minor changes that I can't remember .


    So I was just 3 towns away to conquer the Gauls and now I'll start all over again - but this time I have also night battles .
    Just some thoughts : I play the campaign on medium/hard plus no battle time limit. Also , this update is not save game compatible so you'll have to start all over again , as I'll do .

    IS this mod- foldered or does it copy over the original!?

    A retired Star Wars Empire at war modder.

    I have been here a long time and everyone are such great modders. Keep it up!
    I only made one mod ever, and if EA was still making EAW games, then I bet they would've liked my leader's work and made it into a game themselves.

    Ok, now I need some help , I'm currently working on improving some stuff around , back in business : I want to spawn some troops near my villages , also near rebel towns , Gauls capital , etc , so the first time you start your campaign , you have to fight a little outside the towns you need to conquer . The thing is , I see that all troops have a family member commanding them and I just wanted to put them in place without using any kind of generals , family members .Is there a way to do this ? An example of troops as found in descr_strat:

    Ok, so this is how I think it's going to work : I need a valid name for the commander of the troops , the names I'll take from data/text/names.txt . Before taking his name I must be sure he's not listed already in descr_strat - in town or outside it with troops, etc . Having a valid name for his faction , just put the coordinates and assign some troops until his flag is full of it ) . I'll try this out , and give you a reply .... Making watchtowers and forts it's more simple then this . Be right back .

    His name is taken from data\text\names.txt and it wasn't present in descr_strat before that . Also x85/y84 are just at the border of his main rebel town . I really don't know wtf I've done wrong .

    LE: tried also with diplomats , it doesn't work and I really don't know what I do wrong ....

    Yes that you posted previously is good, but there can be only 1 leader for each faction, so look out for that:

    character Flavius Julius, named character, leader, age 47, , x 89, y 82



    edit: oh and take care of the coordinates. there cant be more than 1 army on the same tile
