Backstabs, Crusades, and Other Things

So, I recently stopped lurking and registered. I've been playing around with SS 6.2, doing a bit of modding. I thought it would be fairly easy. It was not. So I have come seeking your collective knowledge is wisdom.

In no particular order:

1. I want to increase the reputation hit for breaking alliances. When I tried this, I got the hit when my allies backstabbed me, and everyone hated me. How do I do this correctly?

2. I want to make the AI more eager to join crusades and attack excommunicated factions. Is there a way to do this?

3. Similarly, I want the pope to be more willing to excommunicate factions and declare crusades. Is there a way to do this?

4. Finally, I want to make excommunication a bigger deal (that is, with higher likelihood of rebellion, desertion, and attack by other factions). How should I go about this?

Have you explored traits yet (the export_descr_character_traits file, more specifically)? You could create a trait (granted to members of an excommunicated faction) that increases unrest and decreases loyalty.

Hadn't thought of that. This would affect AI factions, right?
