    Default Carthaginian economy

I've just started playing this mod as Carthage. I'm only a few turns in yet my money is already in negative figures and I'm losing more and more each year. It seems that at the start of the game, carthage is making a net loss of approx 10000 a turn. Given that you only start with 20000 this is going very badly very quickly for me. Is this intentional? What's the solution?

I notice that military expenditure is a huge cause of this but even after disbanding vast amounts of my army I'm still losing money every turn. I don't understand why you'd start the game with a military like this and then have to immediately get rid of it all. Is it for historical reasons? Am I missing something entirely here?

It's just the nature of the beast I'm afraid, Carthage starts off in the red but can quickly (with the right decisions) get a huge treasury behind her. I suggest:

    -Taking all of Sicily.

-Disbanding all garissoned cavalry and non-essential ships.

-Roads, farms, docks, roads, markets, palace upgrades and roads.

-Trade rights with anything that moves.

    -Governors in all cities.

I wouldn't worry about it though, those Romans are pushovers. You'll need a couple of militia to take them out and they're as cheap as chips. Good luck.

Only dream I ever have. Is it the surface of the Sun?
Everytime I shut my eyes, it's always the same.

I think that carthage's economy in RS1.5 is a bit unrealistic.Carthage was one of the richest nations in ancient history.I hope that in RS2.0 they will get a more better and realistic economy(and no or less corruption),even if its army will not be the best.

it would be nice in RS2 to see carthage's armies being strong due to mercenaries and not due to their own troops...therfor needing large coffers indeed.

    cnaeus,

    Challange Macedon, and die trying
