Can't start campaign or Battle

When I try to start the campaign the game just stops. And I end it brings me to my desktop.

Double click the campaign_map_reset batch file that is located in your main game folder(Rome - Total War).

Im having the same problem. If someone could explain how to do what florin said i would like to try to fix it that way.

The message you get is completely useless (a great feature since XP I remember

). Reinstall RTW, install the mod-switch version (less problemic), and start the game with "-show_err" parameter

Your problem seems to be caused by corrupted installation.. I encountered it with non-mod-switch version before, but I couldn't figure out how or why it happened, and simply reinstallation would fix it.

Thanks aqd. But being new to doing more than just installing a game and playing it, could you explain how you do those things, "show err" parameter and show installing mod switch version as opposed to the standard one. I am reinstalling it now and hopefully i will work but thanks again for your help.

I second this problem. Seems to me something is seriously wrong. I don't mean to offend... but this excellent looking mod is sadly lacking in clearly defined instructions on installation.

Ok. I got it - and the mod is f-ing amazing. Basically go to the rometotalrealism.net official site and go to downloads, under platinum there is the version i originally downloaded, then add-ons then finally the mod switch version. I dont even know why they have the other one. Download this one - i used the first link, but im sure the other is just as reliable - it took me about half an hour.
Now uninstall your RTW and any other RTR you may have. Then reinstall RTW and then install the mod switch version, now for some reason it still didn't work for me, so i went into my RTW disc - right click it in my computer and left click explore - scroll down to near the bottom to the set up file, there are 4 called set up but mouse over to find the one that is an application. When you go into this you will get an installation wizard, select repair your installation and when that is done, restart your computer and the new mo should work fine. It sounds complex but i have explained it in the most simple way i can and i assure you it is totally worth it.
