So...does anyone think we should enforce the death penalty on convicted pedos? I'm sick of hearing about these cases on the news, and I really think so, not because I think it's a deterrent, but because it's a great punishment. Maybe I'm cruel but I just don't want to see them rehabilitated and put back into society. I want them punished.

But what if they're innocent Mr. Biggs? Those cases are so rare these days that I'm willing to take that chance if it means getting these bastards out of our society for good.

But what about their precious right to life? Well they clearly don't care about their victims', so why should we care about theirs?

If a teenager and an adult have a willing relationship I think it is different than say a 50 year old and a 4 year old. I think that "pedophiles" who have voluntary relations with a teenager should not be punished.. it is weird and should be frowned upon but it is messed up that many people are locked up for this since many times the teenager is the one who comes onto the "pedophile" now In the case of an adult and a child... I don't know about death but life in prison sounds satisfactory to me.

I have no insights that would allow me to ascribe a figure of chance to a wrongful conviction for acts of pedophilia, but apparently you do, as you stated they are rare. Being rare makes these cases existant, wich would translate into gambling with the lives of the innocent.

Would we be justified in killing you? I mean, you presumably don't respect the right to life of the innocent people you're going to kill in order to be able to execute pedophiles. That's what you're saying it takes, right? That we're justified in killing someone if they don't respect the life of some innocent people?

I do not believe in the death penalty - not even for something as horrible as pedophiles. They should be locked up while specialists try to treat them for their perverse illness.

I was never sure why they call 20 years in prison life, because unless you're particularly old that won't really cover all of it.

I can remember being 12 and being really keen on the idea of having sex with a 12 year old girl I knew. I'm glad I didn't, societies taboo might be messing with my head round about now - I'd have memories of sex with a 12 year old, yuk!

Personally I'm not so scared of pedos as the more murderous posters here seem to be. The problem is that I have quite a lot of faith in peoples ability to change, a good understanding of psychology and a total disrespect for taboo.

Some pedos really do need help, the only problem really is what kind of help. Societies failures being covered up by a judgement and a murder is not likely to bring about the changes in society that are needed.

So why is it that pedophiles often don't ask for help until they've been caught? It's obvious that the idiots that want to murder them are partly to blame.

Part of the reason these idiots as I call them would like to murder people that scare them is their lack of understanding of psychology.

So why do people lack basic psych? For the same stupid reason, because society used to make a taboo out of mental illness of all kinds.

The taboo's of society often create/facilitate/propagate many ills, they require a faith in evil.

BTW it's probably obvious but I voted no to killing people who commit a pedophilic act. To me murder is way more serious than sex with a minor, you'd be commiting a worse act to cover up a more uncomfortable one.
