    Default City Banners on Campaign Map Issue

    Created this on the graphics sub-forum, but I figure the answer might also be found here...


    For some reason my City Banners aren't showing up on the strat map!

    I've followed Bwrian's tutorial, but they just aren't working..

    I can't figure it out.

    I'm creating a submod for TATW, now somehow TATW figured out how to simply turn off City banners for their factions.

    I've not yet stumbled across that (i've been doing almost all the textual editing of the mod - a lot, so... i'm running low on time to check everything) though I've checked every place that comes to mind.

    I added in all the new banners into the Model_strat/textures with the #banner_symbol_aztecs.tga (etc etc etc for the rest)

    Yet upon start up, all the new factions still have aztec city banners, and all the old factions still have none!

    Help!

    okay, a quick update.

    The flags are appearing on the factions that had been created by the TATW modders, and the flags on the Forts are working.

    But still not on the new factions that I overwrote on say.. Byzantium, Poland and Aztecs....
    If I can conquer it, I can control it.
    Realism and History have their place here.

    Have you tried updating the symbol line in the descr_sm_factions.txt, so that the factions use the new .cas files rather than the vanilla ones?

    Just putting in my five cents:
    1. The modders have put the tga files in model_strats\textures but not the cas files into model_strats.
    2. Not sure if this entry in cfg has something to do with it as well:

    file_first = true
    disable_file_cache = true
    3. show_banners = 0 is only for the battle flags

    well now i'm a little confused. some of the banners are appearing and some arent, its pretty random as far as I can tell.

    I've got two guesses. I missed something for (some, but not all?? of) the factions... which I find unlikely

    Or Tokus incorrectly set up the flags... I'm not to sure.

    If someone wants to download TATW, and then my mod (through my signature) and give me a best guess or assist in figuring out why it works for some factions but not others.. well I'd be greatly appreciative.

    Renown, a few screenshots would really help clarify the problem you're having here. I can kind of get what is stumbling you, but it's still rather unclear.

    I'm not sure which files govern the city banners since we have them disabled, but you might have better luck if like Sig says you post screenshots and post the relevant files, and perhaps this should go in the graphics sub-forum as even though it may involve some coding it's the kind of minor coding the guys who make the banners would normally do.
