Let's assume that God exists.
Now, humor me and assume that he was also morally perfect.
If God is morally perfect then why did he favor Satan?

And why does he give children cancer and disabilities, for example?

Have you seen Satan without her makeup?

A religious man would answer "God is testing some people by giving them a lot of suffering. He is testing whether they become thankful to Him and follow the path prescribed by Him or they become arrogant. He is testing the deprived if they remain patient and stick to the path God has prescribed or they become a disbeliever."
And Satan is there to give you a choice. It's the religious equivalent of good and bad in morality.

If there is such a thing as a 'God'. He is either completely indefferent or a sadistic jerk. That sums it up quite nicely
*looks left and right*
but it IS a test![]()
If you are concerned with the Problem of Evil, then I doubt you need me to list off the points and counter-points. It has been made far too often both on these forums and on other sites to warrant yet another parade around the showring for what inevitably turns out to hold no succint conclusion due to evidential impossibility.
I will say this, however, that it is difficult at best to claim, with any degree of certainty, to know a being of omnipotence such as God. Such a being evidently may well exist outside of the Natural Universe and indeed outside of Logic altogether. Thus, attempting to attribute anything to him save those qualities which we must assume makes up the Christian God is simply ludicrous.
The "testing" thing is rather weak. Why does god makes some people's lives so damn hard? what did they ever do? can't he just test all of humanity? It is a little unfair of this pussy to do it. He screws up people's lives, says " I am good and I care about all these humans" and then bitter someone's life so much.
