    Default Ent - Why not?

Can we add some Ent troops as mercenary available around Fangorn and the Old Forest? I think they are similar with Trolls so it's not to hard to add them into the game. With a sensible ability and number, i think they don't catch the game off balance.

That would be cool, but how would you stop evil factions from recruiting them? How would you like to face a Mordor army with Olog-hai AND Ents?!

I think it's a way that only Good guys can recruit Ents because some factions recruit mercenaries that other factions don't so I think it's possible.

I agree with you. A brilliant mind could create some Ent troops as mercenaries.

Lore reasons. The Ents didn't side with anyone I'm sure and thus they would be out of place in the game.

A few rebel ents in Fangorn that attack intruders sounds reasonable to me though.

Tut tut tut....Dwarves are so obnoxious...

The Ents sided with the Elves of Lothlorien and 3 times drove back the forces of Mordor that were sent from Dol Guldur to siege Lorien. Without their help, Lorien could have possiby been overun and Sauron's War in the North would have swung in his favour.

EDIT: I still don't want them in the game. Something just isn't right when your armies are being pumelled by trees. And why would they be rebels? They're friends with the Elves. Make them belong to a Greenpeace faction or something if anything.

Sure being the key word in my sentence.

I'm no lore expert but from my understanding the Ents were very neutral-ish and didn't like intuders.

I forgot their name but some kind of wild, sentient trees went to help it the battle of Helms deep.
    Didn't they?

But wouldn't they just declare War on anyone with Harpoon Siege Units?

maybe they could be a one time issue unit. Eventually will die out (or made retrainable just not recruitable if that's possible). And it could be nice to have in custom battles. I wish the bandit units were usable in custom battles.

Would be very hard to model and animate, with not much payoff.

Would be cool I guess, but probably not worth it to implement.

I'm not a modder but i think their animation are simitar to trolls, just different skins. And i think the skins aren't big problem because there are alot of Ent's pictures.

About Hourns, their skins aren't different from the Ents much, so i think it isn't a problem too.

No. There would be a lot of problems if you tried to make ents.

    Thanks!
So why not make those and an ent as a commander of a unit of huorns?

Well if someone could model and animate it just make it as a mini mod as merc or AOR[or both] for good side.
simple answer for anyone who says "Wouldn't it be cool if" go make a mini-mod.

Basicly it sounds good to have ents as they are very strong (available only for Silvan ELves, require Fangorn. If AI controls them, they badly need some strong extra units), but also I just can't see the reason why they should leave the Fangorn (march to Isengard, max.). I can hardly believe they march to Mordor or Harad, for example. They just stay in the forests and go nowhere (and if they do, they go back immediately after their work is done and everyone should leave them alone).

Always the lore issue... I would just love to have some ents crushing thousands of orcs
And about the lore if Tolkien saw this game (or any Lotr game for that matter) he would get a heart attack.
Screw you guys i'm going home!
