Default AUH 0.05 Alpha Release - Download & Install Instructions

    All Under Heaven 0.05 Alpha
Medieval II Total War - Kingdoms required to play

    Download Link

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/zzii1m

    Hotfix 1

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/m31jfh

    Installation Procedure
    • Download auto-installer from the link above
    • Run AUH-Installer.exe
    • When prompted to "Choose Components" you must select the AUH component(selected by default). No borders is optional, explained below.
    • When prompted to choose an install directory, you must install to your main Medieval II Total War directory(the one that has kingdoms.exe in it), not the mods sub-directory. No vanilla files are over-written. If you install to the mods sub-directory you will need to edit your config file to point to the new path instead of the intended path.
    • After the installer has run, de-select the "Run All Under Heaven" or similar option listed above "View Readme". If you run it this way the game will probably CTD.
    • Go to the directory where you installed the mod and find the file auh_cfgfixer.bat and run it(in future versions this will be the file that is run after installation to remove the necessity of this step).
    • This file will create a new auh.cfg file using the required header while not removing your personal preferences settings, and subsequently run the game. You may now run the game using the shortcut placed on your desktop(an icon for the shortcut will be included in future versions).

    Hotfix 1
    • Install in the same manner as above after you have installed AUH to the main M2 directory.

    Further Information
    • View the Known Issues thread for a list of acknowledged issues you should expect to see with the alpha.
    • (Coming Soon) View the Bug Reports thread to learn how to report bugs for AUH, and follow the instructions in that thread to get your Mantis account if you don't have one.
    • (Coming Soon) View the Code Submissions thread to find out how to contribute to the textual aspects of the mod.
    • Use this thread to discuss the current version of the mod.
    • Enjoy.

    No Borders Component

This is a file which should overwrite your descr_sm_factions.txt with a version of the file with the borders(as seen on the radar map) removed, leaving only the primary color of each country. The reason for the inclusion of this optional component is mainly just to acquaint users with the component selection portion of the install procedure, which will be utilized to allow varying versions of certain aspects of the mod or add-ons.

    Changelog

    0.05 HF1

    - Solved the formation and secondary weapons issues, which were all EDU text based.
    - New model/texture for flamethrower

Yes but, can't people then find the files?

Hm? People might be able to find the files, but there's a higher likelihood of a leak than someone guessing a URL made up of random numbers and letters. So if the alpha got out I'd go into Inquisitor Mode before guessing that they had the technical know-how to figure out where we put it.

I thought you could do that with the search mode...

Anyway, the next time google's robot passes sendspace.com you can type

    Code:
    auh site:http://www.sendspace.com/
And you might be able to find it.

Anyway, no one will do it. So there's actually no point discussing this :P.

Wait are we talking about Filefront? In Filefront it probably would be easier to locate it yeah. I'm not sure if they allow private uploads with passwords or not but it seems likely they would.

I "played" it for some time now and here are my 2 cents about it:

The graphical look is good. Something new, but not disturbing my eyes.

The units look awesome, though there are animation problems, which make some units look unrealistic.

I really like the decicion event at the beginning, hope it will consequently change the gameplay.
The campaign map is huge and looks great, but not awesome. I hate the ocean.:eeew:

    There are many sounds missing....:whistling

    Here's my side of it:

Liked the completeness of the mod as far as it is possible in this stage, agree with most positive points Robin makes actually.

But please I'd like to suggest inserting LOD's for the Units, my computer lagged through the whole battle when it had more than 5 units.
First I thought since it was pretty old, it was my PC's fault.
Later I talked to Stefan, and his High-End PC wasn't able to run Battlefield Games very smoothly either.
Thinking of our fanbase and their systems, LOD's might be a necessity.

Well I've been on the lookout for some Strat Map Buildings as well :)
Found two Pagoda's looking very nice ;) later when asked, Chris told me there are 6 on the EDCT List. So I'm still in Search mode on that.

    Overall = :thumbsup2

If you can, try to take screenshots and describe the animations issues in the bug report thread. I assume you installed the Hotfix which fixes a few of them we noticed. The decision event will definitely impact gameplay in a variety of ways. In the end the first decision a player makes will actually be which advanced scripts he wants to turn on(much like DLV if you've played it) and then there may be accept/decline events pertaining to some of these throughout.

    B. Ward is working on the campaign map(like, as of yesterday since he just got his hands on it as well). The textures are also temporary, they are made by Charge as I think you're aware of who released them as a community tool. And I agree about the ocean, I like the color of it but it looks to much like stained glass so hopefully when we make our own textures they will make it awesome(pathfinding couldn't hurt either).

I presented the strat map buildings issue in another thread, I believe the art thread pertaining to it, about how many we could have. Alex has been adding a few of them(but he messed up my index so I had to fix it :P), and I hope that when I said it there was a conscious distribution of the "slots" we have available.

And yes we will need LODs and Sprites in the long run, the latter is a pain I assume the former is to. For now I suggest lowering the unit texture detail settings and see if that works in place of LODs.

Of course the Hotfix is installed. Most of them are just little issues, I think you all know how critical I am. If I notice them again, I will take some screenshots. But first add LODs, even my High End machine can't run battles.
Good, I like the gameplay of DLV, not the creator of it, but his work.

Tried that by the way, (lowest setting of unit detail possible) but no change in FPS.

A quick glance at the file size of some of my units reveals the reasons for any lag, though surprisingly I haven't noticed this much ( my PC is not that good). But, this is my fault and some models are definately too high poly and need altering (mostly heads and some weapons). I have noted this and newer units won't have this problem. A quick comparision with Ruischi Mongol models (which don't use LODs) range from 200 to 415KBs (most 300+), whereas mine the smallest is around 300KB and the largest 800KB (with most average 400KB+). Not a huge difference but obviously noticeable to some. Stefan could help out with this if he wants, as 3ds Max has better tools for lowering the poly count on meshes than Milkshape does.

    Cheers.

Many newish mods don't use LODs

The "optimize" modifier can sure help out. But first you've to be sure that the units are ready and not that if I've made the LODs you have to edit all kinds of stuff.

    CHANGES:

    Campaign Map: Southeast Asia

Mekong River Delta and Tonle Sap should be present and navigable. Many great battles, and the success of Angkor was dependent on the river and great lake.

Light blue = water level during 6 month wet season

I've moved a couple posts here from the "Personal Changelog" thread. That thread is for notes to self, things you personally have changed in your version of the game, that you need to send in for a patch update or keep track of to revert later. That thread should not be used to note things you think someone else should do.

    My cricism

By far I would rate it great 9/10. I think by looking at this release we are about 65% done. Some more events and 2D pictures and event .tgas would be great

Units are great and by checking the EDU they are balanced out as well, but some units (I find 3) 2 are of Song, are too high poly as Yelu has mentioned (They look better though) I would say we have done the frame and will continue filling in pictures. Great job dev!!
