    Default Did I cheat?

Ok so I'm playing my English campaign and the Irish are down to their last holding, Dublin (wooden castle still). I besieged it and commenced the fight. I had:

    4 welsh long bowmen mercs
    4 peasant archers
    2 ballista
    2 crossbowmen mercs
    4 welsh spearmen mercs
    3 spear militia
    1 general

Anyways I setup a good stake line and I'm all setup and commence to use the ballista along a section of wall where he had his best archers. As they start taking damage from stray shots and from the wall crumbling the Irish get pissed and sally. No wimpy sally mind you, 4 Gasgog, 3 Marcach, the kings Ridire and the heir's heavy cav generals bodyguard. It wasn't pretty but I got lucky and managed to snare the king with some spear and hit him with my general. The king died and they routed back inside.

As I'm taking stock of what I had left and what I had done to him I notice that the heir only has 6 bodyguards left. I finish making a couple holes in his walls and see that the heir has his cav setup near one of the holes I've made. I picked the heir off with the rest of my ballista ammo through the hole I'd made. Hmmmm I thought to myself "If I retreat now he has no more family and the king and heir are both dead"

I retreated (my first loss of the game) and the Irish faction, having no leader or family was "destroyed" and Dublin became rebel with 4 units garrisoned. No horde to deal with.

Did I cheat? What would you have done?

    1. Install this.

    2. Don't know what turn you are on, but you should have let them advance more, before deciding to go guns blazing on the faction.

    3. Done some research: Found out if England did other military campaigns at the time when you focused 100% on Irland. (Levant, how much? How much on the French border? Flemish? Scotland? etc.)

    4. Enabled all scrips (that is if you had declined any of them earlier on.), yes - including Total War AI.
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Yea, Install B.B or you are a little girly man....Just kidding Seriously most of BB 2.2 is going into DLV 6.2..
So most players who want a challenge are already using that mini-mod

Well I was going to install Taiji's battle ai, but my first attempt failed, then while I was researching what I had done wrong I noticed that 6.1 already had 1.7 in it, so I figured eehh better than nothing.

The Irish died on turn 47. I was in trouble in Europe which Is why I was in a hurry in Ireland. While fighting the Scotts I took Angers and ever since the France were sending stack after stack. It was all I could do to hold them off while keeping the Flemish in check (I have an alliance with them, but they don't have anywhere to expand to) My plan was: Hurry up and finish the Irish then get to Europe asap, starting with the flemish first before trying for Paris or Toulouse.

Yes I have all script on and its vh/vh. I have yet to try a "historical" campaign. Which from what I can see might be more to my liking, since the settlements are further along and I can get right to the good units and fighting.

DLV is balanced to play VH/VH.... So if you don't play with those settings it's not really the whole DLV experience.... Keep in mind that it is not possible to conquer the whole map in DLV... If you manage to be more successful than your faction was in RL......Then you are doing really well!

BB has come a long way since 1.7...

You just have 2 things to install, 2.2 and the update. They both go in the same folder... it's not hard but gimme a PM if you need help.

P.S. There is also a thread around here that has this script for stronger alliances, I'm gonna give that a whirl as well.
