Hoplite Weapon inquiry

Never really bothered about this before but I am now considering whether to recruit more Sacred Band or some Syracusian (sp?) hoplites. I notice that the former has a light weapon and the latter a heavy, what's the difference in game terms?

Upgrade type, AFAIK. I don't know if it serves any other purpose... I don't think if influences the AI recruitment, that's troops type... (heavy inf., light inf, etc.)

Yep, the only difference is the level at which upgrades through smiths or temples become available (I probably should make it more consistent across similar unit types though).

Sacred Band are better than Syracusians, are they not? They're one up on the barracks tree... I would just go with them, higher stats.
