Issues with Patch 1.3

I made a fresh install of Medieval II: Total War Gold Edition and tried to install the patch 1.3. I am receiving these error messages:

"This 1.03.000 update cannot be applied to the 1.03.00 version of the game."

"Cannot locate the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application"

I have the correct DVD in the drive, as Windows Explorer shows I do. Also, when I run the game, in the options mode, it says the game is version 1.2.

WHAT THE CLUDGE?!

Not a bit. Single player is 1.2. Multiplayer/online is 1.3.

So, is Gold Edition basically v1.3? But, if I'm playing in single player, it shows up as 1.2?
