    Doesn't matter, although I prefer recent stuff. They seem more gritty and less cesnored.

    Well this is kind of outsidethe realm of the genre but I would recommend going off and finding some german expressionism films it is there you will find thre bases for the film noir look. Foir example Nosferatu
