    Default "Servant" of Sauron

    Hi everyone,

I have been looking around without finding a similar thread.

I recently started a campaign as Mordor, but pretty soon found myself in a world of trouble. Death stalks the fair country of Mordor in the form of a couple of "servants of Sauron", killing of each and every one of my generals!

In less than three turns the servants have finished of four of my generals. And in the beginning they killed another one. Why? And more importantly, what can I do to stop this from happening? It really ruins my game, since I prefer my armies to be led by generals. Sadly Sauron seems to think otherwise...

    Are you excommunicated by Sauron?

Seeing Sauron is the pope his servants are like inquisitors in vanilla.

No, I am in good standing with him. I have only played about 6 turns!

    Hmm.. This seems weird.
I don't know what could be the cause of this.

    Have anyone experienced this before?

Or is it just bad luck on my part? Right now my remaining generals are hiding in the east or fleeing for their lives, something witch makes the invasion of the free countries a bit diffficult...

Hmm if you are only a few turns, try to start the campaign new, may be it was really only very bad luck, haven't seen that before, if you're lucky they don't do it again (in my campaign i even didn't see anyone of them in my country)

What do you class as 'good' standing how much rings?

As Isengard I had 5-6 rings, and one of Sauron's servants tried this thing on one of my generals, and in the second attemp he succeded. If you have similar ring amount what happend to you is possible.

Seems like servants of Sauron are a bit overzealous at times...

Sauron will send out his "Servents" if he is displeased with you. You can be in good standing and still get a general wacked. A good way to reproduce this is not attack anyone. I was playing Mordor and just crushed Gondor and was trying to rebuild, raise new armies, and consolidate Sauron was much displeased with my laxity and sent a Servent after me, he killed a general of mine and then attempted to kill a second general who happened to be the First Commander of Mordor's armies and also happened to have much Public Security traits on him. The servent screwed himself and got killed. Sauron sent a second servent and I killed him with an assassin. I haven't heard from my boy Sauron since then. And I am still lazy assing it across Middle Earth.

Did you have a period of time when you were consolidating your recent gains? Doesn't have to be recent mind you? Also did you fail to produce temples to him on a constant basis?

Sometimes they just got nothing to do.. And.. Takes the first man they see and rips his head off!

One of those walked around in Mirkwood at Dol Guldur, and I didn't care.
Soon he took out one of my spies at Thranduils hall

    Ive experienced a reverse situation.

Playing Rhun, I thought that Mordor's insane domination had to end, and decided to go against Sauron. So I attacked them. Get this, about ~20 turns into my invasion, Sauron realises Mordor is a failure and backs me, calling an Invasion on Mordorian Dol Guldur.

I lol'd pretty hard when I saw it, then joined the Invasion.

Also, are the servants the guys in black, kinda like Rwraiths, but unhorsed? I think they're diplomats.

    No, they're inquisitors...

And they should be stricter than the named, I think many orc generals don't do their work pretty well.

Why is there a tab for servants of Sauron when you open the Mordor faction info window?
