    Are you referring to the files in the text folder? If so, you will need to use the strings bin converter before editing them:

    Okay Thanks i will try it but My computer shows all the files as "Tekstdocument" meaning text document i havent looked at the properties though. i will take a look if that strings.bin converter helps (when i can get on the laptop hehe) also i heard i needed to activate or copy/paste something before the changed i would make in the text files work i looked trough several guides(or something) all saying the same but i still dont fully understand it.

    The converter will only work on the files in data\text with the extension txt.strings.bin. If that's not what you're trying to edit, you don't need it. Let us know exactly which files you are having a problem with and go from there.

    If i can remeber it well it was the exp_descr units and Descr sm resouces ( the names are hard to remeber) those were the two files i looked in to edit ( but i think all the unpakced .txt files are like that)

    Well, those two files are supposed to be readable in notepad after unpacking.

    There is a readme file in the same folder as the unpacker on how to unpack only the files you want.

    Edit your unpack_all bat file like below and it will unpack the export_descr_unit file into a folder called backup in your Medieval 2 folder.

    unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=..\..\backup --
    filter=export_descr_unit.txt

    This will unpack all txt files into the same folder, this is the best option as there is only about 5 meg of them

    unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=..\..\backup --filter=*.txt

    Setting up io.file_first (you have to do this or your changes will not be recognized by the game)
    with a text editor add the following to the top of medieval2.preference this file is read only so remove this attribute make your changes and make sure you reenable it or the game will set it back to its default setting.

    [io]

    file_first = 1

    Cannonfodder i find the way you describe it pretty hard to understand (that readme is even more unclear) also it doesnt explain how or where i need to edit that batch file ( its C++ from what i know and very hard to understand >.> ) it would be easier if someone could type the 2 lines i need and explain ( possibly with screenshots) on how to edit that batchfile edit1: i just tried it with the read me according to command prompt unpacker does not exist.. it hurts my brain trying to understand this ???

    that howto guide is a bit diffrent from what you said so i still dont have any idea... unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=..\..\backup --verbosity=1 with this i still dont get the files edit: i guess itsbhard for me to understand this and im also scared that i do things wrong (happens fast and alot >.> ) edit2: i just tried that editing its impossible i open the unpacker and tried to type in this: unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=..\..\backup --filter=*.txt at backup it shutdown ( i guess the sentences are too long)

    so if someone could just send or upload those files ( descr units and resources) or find an easier way exept broken unpackers and mind breaking stuff edit3: i just tried unpack all it did unpack but i cant find out where it puts the stuff ( atleast not in data) so i guess TCA broke the unpacker that cme with the gold version *sigh* why had TCA had to pack all those files >.<

    Finding unpacked files when using Vista.
    You will need to go to your control panel.
    Switch it to "classic view".
    Select "folder options".
    Part of the way down on the "view" tab is an option to "show hidden files & folders".
    This will allow you to view the files.
    Now to find where Vista hid them (applies for all patches & unpacks).
    mycomputer/users/(your account name)/appdata/local/virtualstore/Sega.
    find the two geography files after unpacking and delete or rename descr_geography_new.db and descr_geography_new.txt (this is important - if you don't do it, your game won't run)
