Re: Request for Squid
OK I found the problem, and fixed it.
1) The main problem was a backslash problem. I know you know this so I'm not actually sure why I'm going to point this out but anyways, if you use a backslash \ in any file in the text directory, if it isn't being used as part of \t or \n it needs to have two backslashes \\ otherwise when RTW is reading it it's assuming you are referring to an escape character, if the escape character happens not to exist then it won't display the text. There were a bunch of these errors in the file and I fixed them all.
2) Other point I'll point out because I fixed this in the file as well, for the building names (i.e. wine1), or any other entry where the description is on the same line as the internal name, The two pieces should be separated by a single tab and nothing else. If you use any other separator it will add leading spaces into the entries (see the governor building names for the nomad culture, mouse over the buidings in the building browser). There were a significant number of these problems in the file (2000+ lines had this problem).
If you're using a text editor that allows regular expression searches and replaces (I use notepad++) finding these errors is easy.
1)
- Search for \\[^tn\\]
- Fix as needed, since it will always catch the second backslash in a \\ pair
- Repeat 1 & 2 until you get to the end of the document
2)
- Replace All }\t<space> with }\t
- Replace All \t<space> with \t
- Repeat 2 until no replacements are done.
Anyways everything was minor typos and has been fixed, so I've attached the corrected version of the file.
