Default difference between Native population and Native culture

    Hi!

I just wondered what difference these two buildings should represent: natives_1 (native population) and natives_2 (native culture).

Besides the differences in conversion bonuses (natives_1 gives an additional bonus of 1, natives_2 gives a bonus of 5), what's the difference? And with what criterion did you choose to make a region with, let's say, native western population instead of native western culture?

No intention to criticize, just wondering...

The difference is entirely for technical reasons. The religion/culture of a region can be heavily influenced by neighbouring regions. If a region is situated on a cultural boundary and has many neighbours with a different culture then the region will convert to the neighbouring culture; unless the buildings present give a large enough conversion bonus to overcome the effect of the neighbouring regions.

So the purpose of the Natives II building is just to stabilise the local culture in certain regions that would otherwise spontaneously convert at the start of the campaign. Some regions also start out with more advanced colonies for the same reason.

Thanks DimeBagHo!! You're right, I never considered that. Now it's clear, thanks again. +rep
