Is acquring Valyrian steel sword possible?

What the title says, is acquring Valyrian steel sword from an enemy general you defeat already possible in the current version?

I have been trying to acquire Heartsbane from Randyll Tarly in my Theon AAR, but so far, failed: both times Randyll routed, got captured and executed, but Theon didn’t get the sword.

What are exact conditions for acquiring Valyrian steel sword in battle? (If it is implemented at all, that is.)

I'm not sure it's possible in the current version. I think it would be pretty easy to add though. Just add a trigger for each sword to acquire the ancillary if the current holder is captured or killed.

Could you tell me how to add this? (I know next to nothing of coding.)

And would this change affect already started game?

And finally, if automatic transfer of Heartbane fails, is there a way to give Theon Heartbane manually (i.e. through "cheating")?

Open up the console using the ~ key and type:

give_ancillary "Theon Greyjoy" heartsbane

I don't think they are. Definitely something I will look into though.

this community just keeps having great ideas for this mod. inheritable and capturable valyrian steel swords would add to the immersion - and might also trigger human players to act in ways they otherwise might not

Yes. Just change the line "transferable 0" to "transferable 1" in the export_descr_ancillaries file. Now the "Hand of the King" should be transferable.

It already is set to 1. You should be able to transfer it just like any normal m2tw ancillary.

Just move the two characters (generals) - the one having the anc and the one you want to have it - to the same spot, click on the guy having it, select the anc and drag it to the general who's supposed to get it - done.

This is a screenshot of my own, modified, westeros version.
It seems like a certain trigger doesn`t work, but it can be replaced with another one to make the stealing of ancillaries possible. There are some little flaws, but no gamebreaking ones, ofc, but i think the result is well worth it.

So, most likely, you will be able to collect those special swords in the next version.
