    Default Multiple pope like megafactions.

    I am working on my mod GTW (Ghibelline:Total War) and I am trying to find out if there is a way to script a second pope faction (to be the holy roman emperor) that can call crusades against the pope. are there any ways of having multiple papacy factions that you know of?

    None that I know of. dHRR had completly script in the Emperor, without any possibilities to use the Papal game mechanics for it.

    i would reccomend that too Slurricane try giving another faction papal_faction stance in descr_sm_faction

    I could try that.. however would they be able to work as two religions.. like Ghibelline religion (culture pretty much) and Guelph culture?

    In this case the Ghibellins would be no Catholics and cannot become Pope.

    Depending on the size of your map, when this shows Italy only, I would suggest to make the Emperor a scripted reinforcement that is controlled by one of the Ghibelline factions.

    What you mean is have the emperor able to come and be a general to fight the guelfs? its an intriguing idea..

    Yes. Depending on certain requirements the Emperor would appear on the scene as a named character of one of the Ghibelline communities, Cremona or whom you have there. This should be mostly random and lesser tied to the actual situation, because the Emperors didn't care so much on the situation in Italy. Save maybe for the Staufers, none of them would have marshalled a large army for Italy only because some loyal communities would have been in trouble.

    He would be accompanied by a smaller or larger army. You could either script in historical Italienzüge of the time or randomize it. The Emperor would then be controlled by this faction.

    What is important is that as long as the Emperor is in Italy he would always be able to call for reinforcements from Germany. This could either simulated by additional smaller armies appearing during that time in the North of the map (the appearance of one of these corps near Milan caused the battle of Legnano), or by a special "German Knights" unit that is recruitable in small numbers for free in the Ghibelline cities during this time.

    What is also important is, that the Emperor might at any point be required to leave Italy, regardless of the situation there (sent character off map). He might, but must not, return later.

    The (dis-)appearence of the Emperor, as a negative effect, should also cause spamming of strong rebel armies, because the Emperors brought large numbers of German mercenary knights to Italy, of which many stayed and started marauding thereafter.

    I am planning on using Ghibelline and Guelph as religions, would I be able to make a script so the emperor comes for the Ghibelline faction with the highest percentage of Ghibelline "Religion"

    "The highest" is always difficult to check for, but checking for religion is possible in general.

    So is there a way to check for number of provinces with that as the dominant "religion"?

    The only one I could think of would be this:

    Code:
    Identifier:	PopulationOwnReligion
    Trigger requirements:	character_record
    Parameters:	logic token, percent
    Sample use:	PopulationOwnReligion >= 80
    Description:	Test the factions religion in characters current region
    Battle or Strat:	Strat
    Class:	POPULATION_OWN_RELIGION
    You would need a Gihbelline character in each region to check it. And the result would be a total number, like "Cremona Gihbelline >= 80%", and not a relative value like "Cremona more Giheblline than Mantua".

    So by that I could make it where Imperial armies could spawn for any faction that meets a certain threshold such as 97 percent or whatnot?

    Not faction, but region.
