Default New Alien film in the works????

Ok I read this on my fav movie magazine website Empire so well here it is...

Ridley Scott’s classic horror, Alien, turns thirty this year. So what better way to celebrate than by desecrating its memory with a pointless remake?
At least, that was our initial reaction when we heard, thanks to our chums at Bloody Disgusting, that Fox might be planning an Alien remake, with commercials director Carl Erik Rinsch at the helm.
However, before you test the old theory that in space no-one can hear you scream by yelling 'Noooooooooo!' so loud that the guys on the International Space Station tell you to shut it, there is some additional info that means that might calm you down. It certainly worked for us.
First of all, Ridley Scott is attached as producer. As is Tony Scott. And some guy named Michael Costigan. But it’s the presence of the Alien creator that means that this might not be a total slap in the face for the original movie.
Secondly, Rinsch may be a commercials director, but then so was Scott. And both men are capable of visually stunning work.
And last, but by no means least, the remake may not actually be a remake, nor a reboot, but an origin tale. Could we be getting, at long last, the story of how the Aliens came to land on LV-426, along with that massive ship and its elephantine driver with the giant hole punched in his sternum?
Now bear in mind that this is very much still at the rumour stage. However, in a way it makes sense for Fox to take another stab at the Alien franchise. After all, the company is currently doing the same with Predator, with Robert Rodriguez’s Predators set for next year. If both franchises can be relaunched around the same time, that should be worth more to them than an assembly line of increasingly mediocre, increasingly low-grossing Alien Vs Predator movies.
And, if the worst happens, then we’ll always have the originals.

As long as it's like below I'm okay with it.

    2) Alien3 (as originally imagined)

The original script for Alien3 had what many fans wanted (and still want) to see: Aliens on Earth. Not Aliens on present-day Earth (as in the terrible Aliens versus Predator), but Aliens on Ripley's Earth, with both high-tech gun-toting marines and Aliens a-plenty coming to blows with the poor old general population caught in the middle.

A teaser trailer to this effect was released prior to filming began on Alien3, but the inevitable budget cutbacks and meddling on Sigourney Weaver's part resulted in the diluted mess we ended up with.
For my money, nothing could be better than Aliens set loose on a futuristic Earth, with motion-tracker carrying marines hunting them down. Can we finally get to this in Alien 5? Please?

Aliens on Earth could be like the Alien comics they made as a follow up to the Aliens story. Though in that one, earth was pretty much taken over and humanity almost wiped out, if it weren't for space stations around earth.
If they're making an origin story though, there should be none of that, though I'm not sure what interest an origin story holds as potentially the story of the Space Jockey could predate humanity's first attempts at space exploration by thousands of years. It would be like a movie entirely without humans.

They could always do aliens attacking earth and then flashbacks to how the Aliens came about. That way we get humans and some more back story...

i liked all the alien films and the predator movies. though the first ones where better then the later ones. The only bad one out of the set was aliens 4. the first aliens v predator movie was ok to be honest. better then alien 4. the 2nd one was just awful. I hope if they do make a new alien movie they go back to horror rather then guns and blood.

Not sure about this but isn't it pretty much agreed that the Space Jockeys likely created the Xenomorphs as a biological weapon?

That's one of the theories, but there is by no means a consensus on the subject by the powers-that-be, i.e. the directors and studio.

Perhaps this new film shall clear it it up?

That's some really interesting directions they'd be taking it... but the original Alien.... just so scary.

It was the first horror movie I watched at the age of like 7, so I might just have it enshrined (I do) but I really hope they'd retain the psychological fear they had in the original.

Christ, I hope not. They should of ended on a high, and stopped at Aliens 3 (which was pretty good) - Alien Ressurection had an interesting premise but turned out to be an absolute embarressment.

Why can't Hollywood just leave good Franchises alone, while they still have a shred of integrity left?

if they weren't engineered as a weapon, then they must have evolved on a seriously badass planet.

If you notice there are no uniformed xenomoprhs if you go beyond their embryo stage as they are "designed" to adapt to the new enviroments via their host's DNA. So in certain ways they are perfect as bio weapons. All you need to do is enter the orbit of your enemies home world, drop a few hundred eggs all over the place and then leave it to the inevitable destruction...

But as mentioned it is not an official explanation, just one that sounds reasonable...

It would be nice if they clarified this. Despite the mystery of the xenomorphs origin is one of the things that makes them extra cool, imo...

Well there's still the difference between harnessing them as bio weapons and them specifically having been created for that. They could have been tried to be harnessed by the Space Jockeys just as humans continuously tried to use them as weapons. That's been a constant theme in all 4 Alien movies, their usage as weapons/research objects, no matter how dangerous they are.
I believe there is more of a mystery to it if they came from somewhere outer space, somewhere we can't even imagine, only by pure chance having been brought into contact with us.

so what's the plot going to be this time? wait let me guess. They have to escape from a spaceship because it has become infested with aliens and at the end only a few characters make it.

First Alien flick was good. It was basically a sci fi horror movie.

2nd flick drastically changed direction and was more of an action movie... but it was still good.

3rd flick was just a repetition of the first two movies. Not very good.

4th flick was yet again repetition. Same formula and everything... it was terrible.

I'm not even going to count the alien vs predator movies. The only cool thing I remember from the predator film was the civilization at Antarctica. That was really awesome... they could do a whole movie centered around that theme.

I'd rather they didn't try. Hollywood invaribly balls things up.
