    Default Historic Battles

I love to remake historic battles as best i can on RS 1.5 Custom Battles but i dont know what units were used or how many to use to make the battle of cannae. If anyone could write out what units should be used by both sides it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I'm sorry to say that we haven't touched those yet. There is just too much to do to worry about them at this point. We're more focused on the historic battles between Hannibal and Flaminius, and Ptolemy and Antiochus at Raphia...which will be in the campaign.

    The romans:
80 000 infantry (republican legionaries) + two units of cavalry (equites).

    Hannibal:
    Infantry:
    Illyrians, Naked fanatics, african hoplites
=> these units are the backbone of your army. The illyrians + Naked fanatics are in the center with the hoplites on the flanks, formed up in a ^ formation. Once the romans ingage, pull the center back and form a v formation, enveloping the romans. The hopiltes on the flanks turn towards the enveloped romans.
Cavalry: 1 unit of gaulish heavy cav + 1 unit of spanish heavy cav on the left wing
1 unit of numedian light cav on the other
Attack the roman cavalery on the flanks. Send the Spanish cav around the back of the romans, to aid the numedian light cav. Once the roman cav is gone, preform a hamer and anvil strike in the roman rear

well, we are learning a lot more about the RTW engine and it's limits each week, so it may just be a matter of time...
