I can't make them. I'm playing as Stannis, and I've crushed the other arms of the Baratheon house. Now I'm playing for 'recognize me as king', which I'm RPing as 'ally with me'. However, so far I've only been able to make an alliance with Dorne. I had an alliance with Tully, too, but when Stark declared for the crown they broke the alliance with me.
When I send a diplomat to speak to Tyrell, Arryn and Lannister, the option for alliance doesn't even come up. I thought it might be because they were allied to the other kings, but no one is allied to Greyjoy, Lannister only exists because I decided to support them against House Tully and Stark, and Arryn has... done nothing, with anyone, except crisscross across the country with princesses. There's a growing surfeit of princesses, too, which indicates that the problem might also be universal, even with AI, as even the M2TW AI generally is smart enough to marry princesses off to create alliances of some sort, while I've sent both princesses and ambassadors to Arryn and Lannister and have not gotten the option either to marry them or just ally with them.
As it stands, King Stannis died with only Dorne 'recognising' him, and the price for that seems to be a chunk of the stormlands and even the lands of King's Landing itself, while the other greater houses refuse to declare either for Robb Stark, Theon GreyJoy (weird, I know, but he's apparently the fourth Iron King. The others keep dying) or King Rolland Barratheon, Possessor of the Iron Crown, Lord of Dragons, etc, etc. Very frustrating, as it means that I can't cut Dorne down to size by bottling them back up in the Vast, something I would gladly do if I could convince Tyrell or Lannister to support me.
And while I'm at it, it seems impossible to get AI to give up the crown once they've claimed it... but that's another complaint for another time.
