    Default Noob Question?

Hello everyone, Ive looked around for a bit but can't seem to find any answers. I have the SPQR mod and Ive noticed people with screenshots that show a legion with a number, even on the battle field. A few of my cities in Italy say Legion XVI(for example) after its name but after I recruit a full army consisting of Triari, Hastati, Principes, Cavalry and skirmishers and go into battle all armys show "X" on there banner even though thats not really its number. How do I get the Legion to show its distinct number from the city it was recruited from? Thanks.

This is something that applies after the marian reforms.

When you get them you will find that the legions of each number are only recruitable in one city and can only be retrained in the same city.

Before the reforms the Hastari, etc are recruitable and retrainable anywhere.

If your new have a look at the help guide in my signature - it might answer some other questions that you have.

You'll only get numbered legions after you get the Marian reforms.
The troops you mentioned are the Polybian (premarian) troops, and are not tied to a specific town (unless you play by the houserules, but nothing forced by game)

OHHHHHHHHH! So its after the Marian reforms, which happen after I conquer all of carthages original territories (according to my research). Good to know because I had already given up on the Roman campaign even though I controlled all of Italy and Sicily, none of my cities except the capital, were making any profit and I hate using the cheats. On the other hand, I started the Carthaginian campaign and I'm doing quite well. Thanks guys I will start the Roman campaign again.

yes you need all the Carthagian cities and imperial palaces in all of them to trigger the reforms

my best hint would be build roads - they help with moving your armies to deal with the threat of the enermy and earn you a significant amount of money - or have a look at some of the guides to the start (you'll find the links in my SPQR help guide)
