I don't think there is any meaning to life. I think meaning is just some word humans had to make up to indeed give some 'meaning' and 'purpose' to their lives, because otherwise they wouldn't really know what to do. It's one of those reasons why there is religion (this also has something to do with explaining the start of the universe and the fear of death, so let's make up an afterlife, let's give everything a meaning). The word 'meaning' is something humans came in contact with because of their intelligence, and it's a curse, really. Other animals do not concern themselves with these thoughts. You could say humans have too many time and intelligence (well, some of them) on their hands.
I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think - Socrates
Barbarus hic ego sum, quia non intellegor ulli - Ovidius
The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool - William Shakespeare
A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything - Friedrich Nietzsche
For atheists there doesn't seem to be one.
For Christianity it's a "testing ground" to get to Heaven.
For other religions I do not know, but lets hope someone enlightens us here.
42. Someone had to say it, just getting it out the way early.
There isn't one single point to life with atheism like in organised religion.
The point is that you make your own. That's the beauty of it. To say that there is no point is to be fundamentally so unimaginative as to believe that were your god-given purpose taken away, you could not think of a single reason to live.
You didn't have to insult me. And I was saying that because what is the point of life if you pass away and cease to exist. The thread does not ask for the meaning of your life.

Let's not drift off topic.. Maybe I should've been more clear in the first post:
I'm asking the meaning of YOUR life, not THE meaning of life, unless you think those two are the same, for some reason.
I agree fully with that! But, the question remains.. What meaning have you given your life?
I suppose, though, that I should post my own meaning here too.. But I can't think of anything better then 'trying to make the world a better place in my own way'..
You saying that we miss out on the good parts in life is absurd. I find that offensive to say that we don't enjoy life to the fullest. You make us sound insane by saying that we cling(sounds desperate) to unprovable(they are provable in prophecy-current events-DON"T ARGUE ABOUT THAT HERE ITS FOR ANOTHER TOPIC-that we will somehow(we know how) live forever.
Well, I was saying that I would miss out, not you. Now if I remember right, the average life expectency in Canada is 77, if there's 52 weeks in a year than that's 4004 Sundays in your life, if you go to church for an hour or how ever long you spend there then that time adds up, that's almost 167 days spent there, if you go for an hour, 2 hours and that's almost a whole year of your life gone, so likely the average church going person would spend quite a lot of time there by the end if their life, and the time spent praying, etc. could add up too, I just think that for me, there's plenty of better things I could spend all that time on.
Fine, I won't argue that your subjective "proof" is subjective, but you could start a topic on it somwhere else if you wish.

Chaigidel.... I had to wiki your name in order to make sense of your posts. Nice. + rep

There is no meaning of life. Only the meaning of existance and that meaning is simply to exist.
I think everyone has their own kind of meaning to life, as in we all serve our own purpose to the world and that is our meaning.
I don't know mines yet, ask me on my death bed if I still have the internet.
There is no universal meaning in the sense of a purpose, unless you count our biological purpose which is to propagate ourselves. Which in fact is more of a necessity than a meaning per se.

A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.
A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."
There is a massive difference between the meaning of life and the meaning of my life. Why there is life is different to what I should do with my life.
To make meaning of life.
A really stupid kid responded with that when I was in high school. I agree with him though.
