Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. Maybe your ascending King has already maxed his ancillaries. One can not have more than eight. If he already has eight ancillaries you will need to give some to other general before crowning him.
I know man, been playing since DLV 3.0, but (call me crazy)never given the Turks a try until now. My Sultan only got 7 ancillaries right now. The strange thing is that he has jet to insult the nobels, its been 5 years or so. He got 4 authority, maybe I shouldn't complain![]()

Well... Then you should. I bet you offend the nobles next turn.![]()
Nah man, these turks are really fed up with monarchy system. It seems like they have begun the Ottoman empire/Republic a couple of 100 years before sceduleVery loyal too
EDIT: 12 turns after the orginal Sultan died, without a monarch, The new Sultan found his place in Iconium(not the orginal capital), ooofcooourse.

You should be able to be crowned in the original Turkish capital. Just make sure that your sultan has fewer than 8 ancillaries and remains in the capital for a full turn.

Well, I opened a thread about this, too, and the OP. No you actually cannot. You can only get crowned in Iconium - so you have to make sure to get that city ASAP. I got lucky - I won a good size victory with my new king - who inherited the hated by nobles trait form his father. After victories it went away for now.
That's actually cool little twist for that faction. I love it how some factions have a 'special' start... Teutonics and Norway have cool starts too.
I started a game as the Turks once, but I felt they were too powerful to start, so I never made it more than a few years into the game.

I almost always pick a faction with just a few territories... I think it's the CIV player in me... I have a deep need to build my kingdom up from nothing.

If you play the historical campaigns, you don't get much with the Turks, and are more or less in between 2/3 sets of potential enemies. I spent a lot of money, a lot of dead family members and generals, and decades of constant war to defeat the Armenians who were in a marriage alliance with me, (first horded them, then again, then just hunted them down to the last man). Same with the Egyptians as well, and the Georgians. Now I control all of the Middle East and most of the Sinai Peninsula, Armenia, Caesara, Atalia, and Iconium.
