HAL - Hybrid Assistive Limb

Finally, if you can’t be doing with upgrading your body one bit at a time then the robot suit HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb – not to be confused with the homicidal computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey) will do the job in a single, step-motored reboot.

Japanese manufacturer Cyberdyne Inc (not to be confused with the homicidal computer company in The Terminator) plans to make 500 this year. HAL’s inventor Yoshiyuki Sankai reckons the suit can “multiply human strength by a factor of two to ten.”

Power armor is power armor, whether it is utilized for manual labour, or for combat. I'm just glad we finally managed to create such technology, albeit very expensively.

Yap, hence majority of soldiers would use flak armor + some metal plate (which is basically what uses today).

Well, any new technology is of course going to be expensive, because of a lack of demand, as well as the fact that we're not completely accustomed to creating said technology.

It'll be interesting in, say, ten years, to see where this development and research goes.

Power Amour with AI?? For what purpose??

Power Armour with PC inside is fine, but AI?? And CA's AI?? No hunderds times.

No, if anything, these would merely be just manned suits of power armor that operate in an autistic fashion (that is to say, without any real connectivity to any other technology or networking, just by itself).

Well, there's a bit of a difference, when it comes to AI development.

Currently right now, you only have Boolean query data trees, which are pretty much just huge IF/ELSE functions. You can liken this to the AI in any video game.

True thinking AI, however, is a long ways off.

I do see androids coming into use, and to a good extent, they're already here. I know that Honda has their little robot mascot running around. If they can develop it, and create that AI to utilize a power suit exoskeleton, I do not see why we won't see androids in the near future.
